  2. Something tells me that BA is going to have quite the debates this year in their top 100. John Manuel loves the Jays spects. Bill Mitchell loves the tools but has questions. Vincent Lara-Cinamoso sees Barretto as a top 20 guy, but Mitchell puts him at 13 just from the AFL guys. Lists like the Royals are all over the place in opinions. Really going to be a lot of anger when their lists hit.
  3. They seem to only pay really long time veterans too. I think Dice K and Kuroda were at the top. Goes with Japanese respecting their elders culture I suppose.
  4. Word is that he won't come over if they don't let him hit. So if that stance doesn't change a team might have to. He's only been pitching once a week there though. Teams will be concerned with the additional pitching workload and hitting...it actually will be an interesting negotiation.
  5. I think the more interesting question is what would Fantasy sites do if a team lets him hit. CBS fantasy already decided that if he's a two way player in the majors they would have a pitching Otani, and hitting Otani. Setting up the Otani for Otani trade.
  6. They have to fall out of contention and even then it will be tough to get the right deal for him. This is one of the most fickle (worst) baseball markets around. Attendance dropped again last year, despite a playoff season, and payroll going up by over $30M. Waving the white flag now would be disastrous for them financially. They own the majority of the TV rights to the Nats, but the percentage they own is dropping every year. I think they at least have to attempt to extend him this year.
  7. He's going to more than double his HR output?
  8. Missed the Around Baseball thread...was not the first to say f*** no.
  9. Did you say Gruber? I await the Chris Carter recommendations now (not from you, just in general). I'll be the first to say f*** no to that.
  10. I'll give you the 30th for Watson right now. You jump up 6 spots in 8 hours without moving a player.
  11. I topped your offer too late. I didn't see the "f u" post which I consider binding.
  12. it helps develop the full potential of his Showalter hatred.
  13. who is on this early cleaning up? I was saving the spammer for Gov. Oh well he can have the troll instead.
  14. At least there are some there disagreeing, but then they have those that just can't see it.
  15. Excellent choice...this would have happened last year but this is the first time since the Bat Flip that Admin logged on. I believe that KingKat is planning your initiation.
  16. There are 30 academies in place right now built between the clubs and the MLB, and are run by the MLB office in the DR. Twenty two of them have dormitories in place. Nothing will change except for how the players are chosen and no team can make a deal with the family of (or Uncle Buscone) some 13 year old.
  17. Expos 2000 was Cliff Lee, Russell Martin, Grady Sizemore, Jason Bay, Shawn Hill, Fred Lewis, Jeff Karstens. 2005 Angels drafted and didn't sign Posey, Chris Davis and Matusz (who never panned out but hit top 5 prospect status and had a shitload of trade value). 1977 Expos Raines, Gullickson and Sanderson 120 bWAR 1987 Astros drafted Biggio, Kile, and Scott Eriksson for 110 bWAR 1999 Cardinals Pujols, Crisp and Duncan for 133 bWAR 1976 Red Sox Boggs, Hurst and Smitson for 132 bWAR As for Depth. The Moneyball year for the A's had: Swisher, Blanton, Teahan, Baker, Burton, Zeigler, Papelbon. same year the Red Sox had Lester, Moss, Ellsbury, Bannister and Ricky Romero. That's not even including some of the classes dominated by 1 person.
  18. All that's really known about Bryant's demands is that he said there was no number that would get him to sign (but that's almost never actually true) and that Josh Sale was thought to be the better power bat and he only signed for 1.62M. The way most scouts worded it was that the demands wouldn't match the talent (the scouts were obviously wrong) Essentially if you weren't willing to meet the rumours of his demands (said to be top 10 money) then picking him was a waste (wasting an 18th rounder really isn't a big deal). Keep in mind BA ranked him 53rd. Law 41st, and MLB prospects 43rd (these are the only three rankings I can still see).
  19. This is what Thanksgiving is all about...not football but advice from Troy Aikman. Watch with sound.
  20. Not always but there is a movement to get the scoring up in the MLS. So far this year the Premiership is averaging 2.75 goals per match and MLS was 2.81. There is a reason they aren't spending bigger money on defensive imports though...they want scoring up.
  21. On topic but off of Eaton for a minute. Steamer has Pompey at a 95 wRC+ and 1.3 fWAR playing all three positions. Is anyone buying that value? I know he's capable of that and over the 540 PA's they are projecting him for it's not really that great, but he also has the potential to provide greater defensive and baserunning value than what he's projected for.
  22. Keep up or shut the f*** up. Please!
  23. It's likely pretty far off. Every team in baseball would be in on Eaton if you didn't have to offer up a top 50 prospect or major league performing player.
  24. If Osuna were the only major piece in a trade for Eaton (which is ridiculous but I'm going to play along). Wouldn't it make more sense to make the trade and sign Jansen. Which would be a bigger upgrade for less money in comparison to signing Cespedes.
  25. How the f*** do you mess up the distance of the lines in a game this late in the season? I know this isn't a huge MLS crowd here but I'm pretty pumped for this game. Might come partially from working in a soccer facility over the past couple months.
