  1. There is the one argument that can be brought up by fans against voters that left off Walker based on his "Colorado" stats. They voted in Hoffman who spent 6 seasons in the most extreme pitchers park and another 10 seasons in one of the top 5 pitching parks. I know it's not quite as extreme a park factor as the peak Coors factor but it's still an argument that most probably could not answer.
  2. I'm not sure I get the Hoffman hate. Of the 5 relief pitchers that are in (Eck had 300+ starts so he's tough to compare so I left him out) Hoffman was the best one. The difference being that Hoffman didn't shape the position, he came into the position after it had been shaped by Smith, and Fingers before him. He also didn't have that great one pitch. My big argument is that if "relief pitcher" is a position...why isn't DH? I believe both are and Hoffman and Martinez both belong (along with Wagner, who is hurt by the sheer number of injuries he had)
  3. Bauer who has been with Kyle Boddy (Driveline) for 8 years now. Vandy baseball has joined the program and they have produced more 1st round pitchers than anyone. So we'll see even more from it. Driveline is all about conducting it's own research and continually looking at new ways to increase velocity and keeping players healthy. They post all their research papers. https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/pitching-research/ This (Kopech) however was Apec which does data based strength and conditioning for just about every sport. They obviously didn't secure the rights to name former players but they have this on their site. Our MiLB / MLB system has helped produce; All Stars at every level MiLB MLB record holders (consecutive starts past 5 innings, etc.) MLB 21st Perfect Game Best walk to strikeout ratio in MLB (Tomlin) Fastest pitch in baseball history (105.7mph Kopech) 4 different organizational Pitcher of the year awards 100% of our MiLB athletes that have trained 3 or more off-seasons have made the big leagues
  4. 110 on the Max Velo workout from Kopech.
  5. Just got my promotions schedule email. Seems like a distraction technique to soften the blow when the Rays sign Bautista. The Aaron Sanchez Bobblehead should be easily the most realistic looking one yet. For those aren't on the mailing list, this was the email. Happy New Year! 6. BJMB has a working agreement with Rogers.
  7. Can't believe that NJH has penetrated the fortress that is The Orioles Hangout, and is pulling his pretentious little f***er act over there.
  8. Ang's burro ate the paperwork
  9. I'd think that the Jays are just doing a mutual option to defer money to next year. Opinions?
  10. The package they asked from the Nats was probably bigger. Keep in mind that Tellez probably doesn't have the value that we think (although as King pointed out...he does't have the pedigree of Vogelbach but he does many other similarities). Still SRF and Vlad was what I mentioned as comparable to some past OF trades with 2 years control. Is Tellez and Biagini only getting 1 year of Watson..I'd certainly hope not.
  11. That is huge. And probably too much to give at this point.
  12. I'd also like to add that through the Pitch Talks...no planning. As the guy that always organizes these things for his friends that has enormous value.
  13. I have to admit I assumed this was in CDN $ but it looks like it might be USD. But If I went with 3 others (which was my plan) it would be $180 for tickets, $150 for the hotel (and not as nice a hotel), I'd spend $100 on the Friday night for entertainment equivalent to the cruise, $20 on transit. Throw in brunch and the pitch talks stuff it's not that much different than what I'd pay on my own. Plus Eno Sarris would buy me my beers.
  14. All explained now
  15. I'm hearing 2 years with a vesting option.
  16. A Marilyn Monroe joke...nice.
  17. Considering doing the Pitch Trips through Homestand still. Happy New Year and thank you for joining our Pitch Trips Chicago mailing list! 18. I didn't end up doing the group tickets due to my unknown job status. Sorry I didn't let those that inquired know. Any idea when Individual games went on sale for them?
  19. Dimaggio was the biggest roid user in history
  20. Why not build the system, get younger pitchers wanting to represent Canada. Most of the pitchers who have been representing Canada and will likely be back are in their 30's anyway (Henderson, Albers, Axford, Hill, LeRoux, Magnusson, Mathieson, Molleken). Canada has 87 players in the minors and that doesn't include those in the majors and the guys who have Canadian eligibility. List of pitchers I'd ask before them (not saying that they haven't talked to these players): Cal Quantrill Ryan Kellogg Taillon (i assume he's a lock if he wants to play) Rob Zastryzny (he should be a lock) Colin Kleven (he's put in National team time before) Even Grills Jered Mortensen Shane Dawson
  21. as I said he's a HOF'er and a great hitter one of the best I've seen...but he was not a better baseball player than the 10 guys I named. I guess you could say that I take more away for being a horrible horrible fielder than I do Edgar for not being a fielder. Question is should Manny be punished for the fact that he wasn't made a DH early in his career which led to him to accumulating the second biggest negative defensive statistics.
  22. Sort by career WAR and post. I'm joking as I think there are probably 13 on the current ballot that deserve to get in. My issue with Manny is that he had what...one top 10 WAR year in his career? He was healthy and played everyday which is nice and has got many into the HOF in the past. I just personally like guys that were and are in the story as best in their position year over year (my same issue with Mussina) If you are going to rate pitchers as just pitchers and lump relievers and starters together than no reliever (including Rivera) deserves to be in the HOF. But Hoffman and Wagner are two of the best relievers ever and if you are going to consider "reliever" as a position than I think they deserve to be in (with Mariano being a first ballot guy when he gets on)
  23. My ballot: Bonds Clemens Bagwell Edgar Martinez Raines Ivan Rodriguez Mussina (this one I'm struggling with as I always felt that to be in the Hall you had to be the best in your position at some point Mussina was top 10 often) Schilling Walker Trevor Hoffman (3rd most WAR as a reliever all time. Lee Smith is 5th best, Wagner 6th) I'm not as opposed to Vlad as the rest of you but he just doesn't get there. ManRam is my 11th name no doubt though and mostly because relievers get no love but to be the best or second best in your position gets you there. Vlad is next on my list though.
  24. This stuff is what Elliot lives for though. Reading Elliot write about professional baseball is painful as hell. His promoting of Canadian Baseball through CDNBN is his way of socializing now. He walks around a tournament and shakes everyone's hand but he'd also do anything for anyone there. If I wanted an introduction to someone in the industry in Ontario, I'd go through Bob. This is why his honourable mention in this article is bigger than his top 100 list. He just doesn't want to leave anyone out (even though he left out this board...and the new Director of Analytics for the Rays who is Canadian).
  25. As I've said before Shapiro has been doing interviews on MLB radio for years. He 100% admits stuff like this all the time.
