  1. interesting thanks. I assume in calculating the Dodgers you counted Betts as an OF? Cause only Teo and Outman are by Depth Charts PA's. Also the White Sox must be wrong. They barely have four htters on their team projected for 1.6. And who is the Pirates third?
  2. especially when his requirement is that they let him pitch a third time through. His case is okay as San Diego let him do that and his slash line against last year 3rd time facing the lineup was .121/.297/.205 (165 batters faced) . While it's contrary to his career numbers those are a solid argument for requesting it.
  3. Haven't looked it up, but are there more than 3 teams in baseball with 3 OF's projected with a 1.6 fWAR or better?
  4. It's also rumoured that he's got a specific list of types of teams he will sign with. I have to believe O's are one, but man he's painted himself potentially into a corner. Spring injuries will put the power back in his side.
  5. Is it though? Considering everything as competition, it's not going to attract the best athletes to you if they think that "a mistake" will cost them their career It's not growing in female fans, and they have to be so worried about everything because their sponsors will actually leave them if there is a product controversy. They have elevated themselves as higher than the other leagues (while falling behind NBA in fanbase, which the NBA fumbled), the fall is potentially greater. Baseball's business plan is just more fragile than the other sports because of their fanbase and how they have marketed themselves.
  6. If I get Boxy to post that he removes the curse of Jesse Winker from your team will you change. In some ways I am glad as last season I offered a huge haul for Olsen.
  7. I really think Snell holds out until May
  8. Why is baseball the only sport who cared about steroids when it wasn't banned in their sport? Why is baseball the only sport that has a rule posted in every locker room about gambling? why is baseball the only sport that won't institute a salary cap? "america's pastime" is the answer. It likes to portray itself as above all else. There is more to it than that but it continues to survive, although not grow, partially because of it's image.
  9. you can't compare sports. Baseball holds itself on a pedestal and in turn their fans hold it as "American as apple pie" like "American" is supposed to be a positive. But regardless there are things that happen in baseball which don't happen in the other sports. As for the Bauer situation. There is a former agent on tiktok who was talking about the situation. now take this with a grain of salt as he has had a very public feud with Rachel Luba. However, he says that Bauer has already been told by the 30 teams that they wouldn't signed him for the league minimum. All the "you can have Snell for X Dollars, or me for league Min" is pandering to gain public support for future seasons (like Baseball actually cares what the fans think).
  10. Don't care if you want to go off on Atkins, the unfortunate thing is there isn't enough "pieces of metal" on the commissioners trophy for him to stick up all your asses when he wins it. My apologies to those that had replies in there that got deleted.
  11. Ummm game 4 would be in LA as the Jays had the best record in baseball
  12. $6.7M it turns out. If he hits any of his incentives he earns his highest salary ever. Not bad for a 39 year old
  13. He turned down a $13.4M option, but the way this market was shaking out I agree, I expected $10M
  14. he was due...terrible game planning
  15. Don't hate it. Don't love it for the Tigers $32M guaranteed over his arb year is what Matt Chapman made over his pre free agent years. It's a nice goodwill signing from Detroit's point of view as they don't need to manipulate to gain 2030. But I don't think there is a lot of surplus in it unless he becomes a star.
  16. Question really is will any hitters be pushed to a minor league deal. And will Toronto be desirable (I would think so as a hitter, not at all as a pitcher)
  17. And he will never be banned for life. Just needs to be proven that he broke the terms of his contract. After that, no one will sign him. Business decision. Stop putting words in people's mouths. And stop posting on the fantasy threads. Go ahead and respond to me. Then after that, every post you make in this thread will be a one month ban.
  18. He has balls...different ones for every game depending on the results they want
  19. I am just looking out for your mental well being, by tempering your expectations. Also since that quote he has added one. So it might still be no more added (it isn't).
  20. Their business plan is too razor thin to risk it though. Is Amazon Prime renegotiating the TV deal or are they honouring the Bally deal?
  21. Then I am telling you. 1 bat!
  22. As a person supporting the "stay the course" plan. I would say this would be a disaster. If atkins said "our internal projection systems" have them recovering, I would dig deeper into the numbers. Just as many here have done with the current projections
  23. Players held out for just 6 days didn't add a year of service, I can't remember how the players who sat out were treated, yet minor league players (despite teams not getting an in game view of them) were one year closer to needing to be added to the 40. Players already on the 40 also didn't use up an option year.
