  1. Where did you read that? All I've heard is that there was an accusation and he plead guilty but still claims it never happened. It's all terrible but sexual assault could mean that he showed a minor his penis. Would you view him differently. Honestly I'm just playing devil's advocate here but there is so little details available.
  2. It's an interesting case. He and his family still claim he only plead guilty because he was a minor and it was easier to take the probation than face a hearing. I honestly thought Oregon St. would just say goodbye to him and he'd have to go through indy ball if he wanted to make it. I do actually believe in rehabilitation and just went through a job where there were multiple convicted criminals working with us. I didn't care about their past. But I'm also good with athletes losing their career when they do wrong in their personal lives too (if Osuna never plays baseball again I'd be okay with that..but on the other side if he does something positive with his life after I'll give him credit for that too). As an MLB team considering everything athletes do, where do you draw the moral line? I don't know if a 15 year old doing anything sexual with their 6 year old niece is worse than a 22 year old punching his girlfriend. I just know both are wrong. As long as multi-million contracts are a possibility I'll probably lean towards him not deserving a shot but that probably makes me as much as a hypocrite as the MLB.
  3. I pretty much proved my initial point with Tim Collins regardless. I'm not even concerned with what he does now, but I'll stick to my word, as I'm not concerned.
  4. Tiny Tim could finish the game for the 3 inning save
  5. Is Luke Heimlich really not going to be drafted again this year? 97 IP, 13-1, 2.97 ERA, 129Ks, 19BB's, just 16 xBH. Still just sitting low 90's. I don't think the Jays can be the team, as he might have border issues. OSU has had no problems with him pitching for them...got to figure someone won't in the majors too.
  6. Like a cockroach. hdmh
  7. There really are two financial options for a Vlad callup. Next week (or any time in the next month or so) after the Super two deadline. Or at day 171 next year. We free up a spot at DH. Keep him playing 3B at practice. He is the DH, and occasional 3B. If a Donaldson trade or injury happens we see what he has at 3B. If not, the team knows it anyway. And sending down a player with the only consideration being preserving service time will begin a MLBPA grievance and could even cost the team the player. The reason they can do it with players prior to their time on the 40 man is that they are not in the union yet. It's just a stupid idea.
  8. And long term the difference between learning it in the bigs and learning it in the minors is? I find it interesting that two people in the front office have now said he has to learn to be a better teammate and no one has talked about that. That would make more sense to me than his D issues, as the logical move right now would be to move his position if D is the problem.
  9. Again...bringing him up now would not change when we lose him. You must play 6 full seasons (with a season being 172 days) to reach free agency. Do I need to pin this.
  10. Caught Jaysblue on probably his worst offensive week he'll have, and my team shits the bed all week.

is it not somewhat a win for analytics too though. First time an analytical team has been given a chance to build 100% from scratch. And it shows how far the rest of the NHL is behind in this area
  12. It's my statement that the Braves are not making the playoffs...I like the Jays chances better than I like the Braves.
  13. My favourite quote from the most recent Fangraphs article.
  14. Are asses in seats that important to them though? They have a 7 person Business and Ticketing analytics team now. Seeing as the concession and liquor sales mean so little to them (it is very low and the contract is up for bid this year but they are miles ahead of where they were last time Aramark won the bid), I bet seat deals like that aren't something they will do again. The only good argument is that when the place is full they have a home advantage on the field. But a seat deal will not put a dent in that. Even when Shapiro was talking about Rogers Centre "fan experience" enhancements, the 500 level was never mentioned. They don't care about the 500 level people unless the place is going to be full.
  15. funny enough that was the name of Zaun's webcast since he got fired.
  16. I have such a bad feeling about this AB
  17. He executed it but it was obvious that Pillar put an upper cut in both his swings looking for a Sac Fly. I don't think there is a need for a change in approach at that point.
  18. I also think that calling it Breaking Blue would create expectations of cutting edge progressive analytics.
  19. once Robert's frequency of posting gets up he usually gets banned. he tends to be good with his new accounts for a short time. I don't mind negativity. But blaming one thing (in his case) front office from AB to AB is going to get anyone banned.
  20. You'll see Jansen this year. He won't be full time catcher (possibly ever if he doesn't improve his receiving) until at least 2020
  21. Worst conversation ever...all stats will have a negative and a positive Buck. When you say "doesn't frame well" there also are people where it would be "does frame well". Fire Buck and Pat!
  22. Unreported http://thecomeback.com/mlb/investigation-reveals-blue-jays-receive-percentage-of-tickets-resold-on-stubhub.html
  23. Since the end of the 2015 season (from Forbes all in USD) Team Valuation $900M to $1.35B (up from 22nd to 16th) Revenue $241M to $271M Gate Receipts $59M to $83M Payroll $136M to $162M Pretty much Gate is less than one third of revenue and as long as the team doesn't get back to 2015 levels there should be little interference. It's a natural cycle for a team.
