  1. Because they think he will provide more value than the contract is worth.
  2. Davis...our everyday CF for the next 5 years
  3. Mods are on strike due to our unfair treatment
  4. You looked at the face....just look at the number at the bottom. He's a lot hotter now
  5. Rich Hill's thoughts on the shift.
  6. At least his son doesn't work for the Front Office anymore. I think he's with Vancouver now.
  7. 15 of those HR's in Reno (along with 8 doubles). Tomas has 9 at home too. Even if Lunchbox only has 4 HR's, it is a better hitters park than old Vegas. Still he has done enough to earn a shot.
  8. Shapiro has already said that they will be investing in improving the Rogers Centre...there will be no new stadium unless it coincides with another major event (Olympics are the only one I can think of, as they already have a plan for a World Cup and it doesn't include a new stadium). Only other way a new stadium would happen in the near future is if it's combined with a casino resort plan.
  9. I was taking a shot at this Dad going on TV to complain about it, and claiming his family will never be back. I get it, I drove to Buffalo to see Vlad play. I like seeing good players play This guy and his kids just got to see Betts, Benintendi, Devers, Chavis and Price. The issue that the Jays have one player worth watching is a legitimate complaint...but fans should know that going in, and what is the team to do, play him every home game regardless of what their development says? Jays fans have proven time and time again that they don't support stars when Halladay pitching did zero to increase attendance. I'm being cold about this because we all know what this season is, it sucked that Vladdy wasn't here to start the season. Get over it and enjoy some really average baseball. Also I am in Saskatchewan right now. As soon as people find out I'm a baseball fan they tell me they are going to a series this summer. They are pumped about it because they love baseball. Not because they love Vladdy.
  10. appreciate that. I actually am living in temporary housing (on a job for 8 months) which has no cable. I just haven't got around to paying for Sportsnet Now yet. I have FireTV and watch the MLB network all day/night
  11. Sugar Land is the best of the Indy's. They let Tracy McGrady play, and always seem to have the most former Major League players. Current team has Felipe Paulino, Mark Lowe, and Willy Tavares (and a shoutout to former Jays farmhand Kevin Comer)
  12. That is the big question. Are the players they were looking at just not working out or are they seeking the wrong players? Even if they were seeking fringey big league pieces...most are playing below that. I disagree that the Rays are not the model they should follow, I think it's the model they have to follow. 2017 Rays were full of cast-offs and Vets. Of the offensive players they dealt the only two players they got which are helping the current team are Brad Miller & Mallex Smith who they traded for Ji-Man Choi and Mike Zunino. They got Pham by trading minor leaguers, they got Meadows by trading a young pitcher which still had control. They got Diaz by trading a recently called up prospect, who had a spot on their roster, They got Garcia after he was not offered arbitration. Lowe, Adames and Kiermaier they developed. Getting an Archer type trade won't be easy but it's time that we start thinking about packaging our prospects and minor league depth for closer to the majors depth. Essentially I am saying that this crop isn't working out (with the exception of Sogard) so time to re-shuffle again and use the only assets they have.
  13. That is the great question. Why do younger players sit? I've never heard anything about the why it is important for their development. The orgs that do it (Dodgers, Rays, Astros and Cubs) are orgs that seem to have smart front offices. But I would love to know the why.
  14. There is one obvious thing here...taking batting practice is not at all affecting his pitching. So why not continue allowing him to swing? But his bat will not change when he starts pitching in the majors anymore. I fully expect them to add him into the bullpen this year
  15. And I said from day 1 that Shapiro is the worst PR front office man in the game. Good PR to these guys are more like "How will it effect the bottom line" (Even when they made a PR based decision, they admitted it being not trading Donaldson when they said "we would have loved to started our rebuild earlier but we led the league in attendance"). I can see the PR side (although Holiday games draw less TV viewers so in the end they are disappointing the same number of people) but the PR spin is that the goal is to get better and Vlad is on a sit schedule that our wellness team has put together and it isn't going to change. But as far as I know, the front office hasn't spoke on it, they obviously see this as a nothing piece too. This front office is 100% big picture. Big picture is trying to build a winning team, and making the dome a better place to watch the game. They do not give a s*** about the day to day ramblings of casual fans. Every fan that said they are going to quit the team this year will be back with 20 of their friends if this is a young winning team. So there is your answer. Change your expectations on what it is. Think about the Rays PR dept. and how they have pandered to the fans over the years...they care zero percent about it and concentrate on finding a way to win and turn a profit.
  16. My favourite so far was that Dad who said he'll never come to another baseball game again cause he brought his kids to watch Vlad play. I feel sorry for your kids! Offer them a f***ing bobblehead and they will be right back at the games. Toronto fans are officially the worst in the majors.
  17. It was a bigger outrage than even I thought it would.
  18. The Mets might have a case to have his contract voided. Which would include his agent giving up his percentage...his agent Brodie Van Wagenen.
  19. Good episode. I'll download the software or whatever it is that I have to do just in case I get the opportunity to be on again. Just to clear a few things up on the JPA and Romero stuff. Most of it was not in the private conversations in the car but on stage during their question and answer. The Zaun stuff Boxy got word for word correct. Romero was the one that told the story that he would have breakfast with JPA for all of his starts and would have to ask if he was sober. Didn't specifically say that Lawrie was with him but it's assumed. He did say that he got lessons (didn't say who from) on Advanced stats when applying for Spanish radio for the Rays, just in case he got asked any questions about it. Was really open and cool with everyone. Romero stayed at his table throughout the auction whereas JPA visited all 30 tables at the fundraiser. Romero wants to break into the media now, he's got the podcast with Beto Duran now and is calling 6 games for the Vancouver Canadians this year. The funny thing is that they know the Jays are Canada's team but they don't realize that the rest of the country hates Toronto as a city. They both raved so much about how beautiful Toronto is. That wasn't the way to win over Swift Current Saskatchewan.
  20. Yeah but the Luciano one is the obvious one. They picked a guy that is not ready in the Rule 5 and essentially just shortened the bench on a team that is already housing players that pretty much don't deserve more PT. All other players I somewhat understand why they are here to a point. You need s*** to shine eventually to make that next step. Whether it's barrels or exit velocity or spin rates every other person has a reason for being here.
  21. The fact that they picked and are sticking with Luciano shows where the mindset is for this year and when fans complain about lineups or bunts or umps...the answer back should just be "Elvis is still in the building" This is a throwaway season.
  22. They are casuals. They will be back when it's cool to be there. Trust the Process
  23. I at least understand the "this team is s***" argument. But they are going to sit Vladdy. You watch every single day, why does it matter what day he sits? Their TV audience only really drops big when they are on the West Coast so I really don't see an issue. For the record I'm at work today on this "Holiday" so I say f*** everyone.
  24. I still couldn't give a s*** what day they sit Vladdy. If they have a schedule stick with it.
