2015 MLB Draft Grades
Team Grade Note
Arizona Diamondbacks B In need of a big-time playmaker, Dansby Swanson is their man.
Atlanta Braves B Selected 11 pitchers out of 13 possible picks.
Baltimore Orioles A- D.J. Stewart will become best OF prospect within two years.
Boston Red Sox B- Andrew Benintendi will be a great talent one day, but the Sox needed pitching.
Chicago Cubs B An extremely deep farm system just got deeper. Short on pitching prospects.
Chicago White Sox B+ Pitching needed, pitching drafted. Carson Fulmer will be a very solid righty.
Cincinnati Reds C+ With Devin Mesoraco developing into one of the best catchers in the MLB, why take a catcher at No. 8?
Cleveland Indians A- The Indians might have gotten the steal of the draft by getting last year's top pick, pitcher Brady Aiken at No. 17.
Colorado Rockies A With Tulo possibly on the way out, Brendan Rodgers will be his successor. A very good one.
Detroit Tigers A- Beau Burrows and Tyler Alexander will help the Tigers, especially if they lose David Price.
Houston Astros A The Astros got the second-best player in the draft at No. 2 with LSU SS Alex Bregman.
Kansas City Royals B- Royals could have used one of two first-round picks to get an outfielder they will need very soon.
Los Angeles Angels C+ Taylor Ward will be the starting catcher one day, but they did not address the middle infield situation.
Los Angeles Dodgers A- The Dodgers need to develop depth in their farm system. This draft was a decent start.
Miami Marlins B- Brett Lilek is just one piece of a rotation puzzle the Marlins are trying to put together.
Milwaukee Brewers B+ Taking three pitchers in the first three rounds for a farm system with no arms is just what Milwaukee needed.
Minnesota Twins B Tyler Jay had one of the lowest ERA's in the nation at Illinois.
New York Mets C+ Without a pick until No. 53, the Mets were strapped to address their lack of offensive talent.
New York Yankees B+ The Yankees needed starting pitching. The Yankees drafted starting pitching. Three arms taken in the first three rounds.
Oakland Athletics C Taking two shortstops in the first two rounds won't help the outfield.
Philadelphia Phillies B- The Phillies need a lot of help. Especially with pitching. They took two shortstops in the first three rounds.
Pittsburgh Pirates A Kevin Newman will be the Pirates starting shortstop within two years.
San Diego Padres C+ Not picking until 51 hurt the Padres chances to find an impact arm.
San Francisco Giants D+ The Giants needed outfielders. They have no MLB outfield talent in the minors. They took arms and infielders in the first three rounds.
Seattle Mariners B- Looking for help for Felix Hernandez in the future, the Mariners grabbed a pair of right-handers within 12 picks in the second round.
St. Louis Cardinals B The Cardinals always find a way to mold whoever they draft into serviceable professionals. It will be no different with Nick Plummer. (Fun Note here...it was 3 through 5th rounds that the Cards got 4 players which have already made the majors)
Tampa Bay Rays A- Tampa nabbed one of the best outfield prospects in Garrett Whitley. (J4L
Texas Rangers B+ Despite missing out on good middle infield prospects, the Rangers picked a future No. 1 starter in Dillon Tate.
Toronto Blue Jays A- The Blue Jays might have a dark horse by picking RHP Jon Harris out of Missouri State.
Washington Nationals B Andrew Stevenson will anchor a Nationals outfield one day, but pitching was needed.
