  1. 136 wRC+, but sometimes he chases the breaking ball with two strikes!
  2. Here's what's happening, plain and simple: 1. Confirmation bias - you only remember the times the Jays fail with runners in scoring position, forgetting the times they come through. The current stretch hasn't been as bad as you make it out to be. 2. Mob mentality - each of you are driven to believe increasingly negative things by being exposed to the others in this thread. 3. Variance - the Blue Jays are equally likely to score runs as they were in May. They have not scored many runs recently for no reason at all. It's bad luck.
  3. We have the best offense in the AL. Calm down folks. It will happen.
  4. Whitley actually has pretty decent PD numbers. He could very well shut down our offense.
  5. Not quite. He agreed to sign. Now he is signed. It's annoying to have these duplicate news stories.
  6. Trout, Skaggs and maybe Richards are the only things the Angels have that the Rays would want. All of their other players/prospects are either too expensive, have too little team control, or are not very good.
  7. The Angels have absolutely zero interesting prospects. There's no way for them to overpay. There doesn't seem to be a team that makes sense at the moment. That'll probably change by July.
  8. I had Arrieta for a stretch last year. Always thought he got a raw deal after producing decent peripherals in 2012. Good to see him finally taking off in Chicago.
  9. Milwaukee seems to have dealt Mills because he was close to opting out of his deal and they weren't going to promote him. So instead of letting him go and potentially join a rival, they were happy to hand him to an American League team. Pretty smart IMO.
  10. This page says there's a band called Orpheus that sounds like Metallica: It's him.
  11. Anyone who immediately after joining posts 60+ times per day is one of these persistent trolls. It's that simple.
  12. Where else but BP! http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable/index.php?cid=1667331 It's replacement level, sure. If he can just get to a .250 wOBA he'll be pretty valuable though. And that's possible.
  13. He's exactly replacement level when you add in the framing -- 10.9 runs saved by framing and a -1.1 fWAR. His bat's probably not this bad either (-9 wRC+) going forward. So he's a good bet to end the year above replacement.
  14. LaStella doesn't run or hit homers. But the slash line is intriguing and he has runs potential as a profile #1/2 hitter (if they get tired of BJ or Heyward starts hitting for more power he could become the table-setter). There's keeper potential there. If I needed OBP or had a 2B hole I'd probably be interested.
  15. Hopefully we get Betances to throw enough pitches that he doesn't come out for the eight.
  16. I was thinking more along the lines of Johnny Bench. Mauer would be okay too though.
  17. That stat doesn't do Gwynn justice. Any player can look good next to Arencibia. After his 54-game rookie season, Gwynn never hit under .300 for a season. He is proof that hitting .400 is still possible: hit hit .402 in a 162 game sample ending in 1995. That's ridiculous. One of the uniquely great players in baseball history.
  18. Also from that article: "Or, they were just seeing how stacked the Jays’ cupboard was: Taylor Cole, 24, is 5-2 with a 2.19 ERA walking 16 and striking out 95 in 78 innings. Lefty Matt Boyd, 23, is 5-1 with an 0.55 ERA walking nine and fanning 55 in 48.2 innings (but scuffled at double-A New Hampshire, 0-2, 8.31) and K.C. Hobson, 23, has 57 RBIs in 61 games (with seven homers) and major league blood lines as the son of Butch Hobson." Trade those guys instead AA!
  19. Thank God we don't have to face Tanaka the next time we face the Yankees (in a week). Good opportunity to gain a lot of ground!
  20. One more: I've missed Muni!
  21. Nice to see Muni back. He's already doing the Jose Reyes '7' sign lol:
  22. "Everyone knows..." It's that obvious, huh? lol A frightening number of Jays fans are actually worried about our ability to sign Hoffman and Pentecost.
  23. Boxy used it here: http://www.forums.mlb.com/discussions/Toronto_Blue_Jays/General/Report_Blue_Jays_not_ruling_out_Ortiz/ml-bluejays/77085.90?nav=messages Dinger here: http://www.forums.mlb.com/discussions/Toronto_Blue_Jays/General/Cardona_joins_Molina__Alvarez_in_Venezuelan_Winter_League/ml-bluejays/77159.14?nav=messages I don't remember the meme but you're probably right.
  24. I'm not even that frstrated or annoyed by your posting and you are definitely entitled to think what you want to think. I'm just saying that when you post, nobody says "hey, that guy made a good point/funny joke/good observation." You're not actually adding to the discussion. That's my point. You're free to keep on posting as you have been though, as it is within the guidelines of this message board.
  25. This is a fairly representative sample of your posts: http://i.imgur.com/x4AWhGM.png I understand that venting relieves stress, but all you're really doing is keeping people who actually have thought processes behind their posts from posting. I'm not going to make a thoughtful, 100 word post to a GDT if it's just filled with people cursing out the Jays. ------------------ BoneCollector, you've been better. I'll give you that. Keep it up and Go Jays.
