  1. I think Beeston pushed him.
  2. sounds like one of the brutally stupid promises AA would make.
  3. it would be interesting to know who's idea it was to go buck wild last year and why they didn't follow through this off season. we probably never find out.
  4. the fact that our top 2 will go out every 5th day and pitch 6-8 innings really helps. They've rolled out BS that Hutch has no innings limit this year, but it would be mental to ruin one of the guys who should be a big part of the teams future. the odds of Morrow going a full year aren't' realistic either. there are lots of extra starts that will be available. If Happ would accept a stint in Buffalo, he could help the team when others go down. He's a good 6th or 7th option.... over paid for that ,but for the team it would be very good if he would.
  5. the 200 innings a year part is what makes Buehrle deal acceptable. he saves the pen a s*** load of innings. Dickey should go over 200 this year as well. without those two the back 3 would be even scarier. Jays have so many guys who have NEVER gotten close to 200 innings.
  6. 7 year deals for 28 year old pitcher is really risky. especially when you are talking 20M a year.
  7. some position players make sense to lock in, it makes sense if you can do a team friendly deal. I'd like to see them lock in Lawrie now if they can get him at a good price, but nothing Longoria silly. Lawrie is NOT Longoria, but for the right price it would make sense.
  8. you seriously want them to give Happ the Jo Jo Reyes treatment??? with the fact that we KNOW AA doesn't have the balls or intellect to make a move before it's too late, I dont want Happ anywhere near the big league club.
  9. Redmond, Rogers, Stroman... Bedard instead of Happ would be exchanging one bad option for a worse one.
  10. yeap... he went against the flow and got beaten down like a rented mule. he's towed the line ever since. be interesting to see what happens after this moment of sanity.
  11. result will be Happ in TO and Wilner unemployed...
  12. at least RR isn't making the team and taking the spot of someone who might actually bring something to the team. Happ and Izturis are just as bad, but AA is taking them north. Izturis wont play unless someone is dead and we will all wish Happ was dead if he makes the starting rotation. AA loses the last grain of credibility if Happ makes this team coming out of camp.
  13. it all started before he got his extension. he kicked up a s*** storm about how he wanted starter money because he is a starter and that he didn't want to be in the pen. I blame AA for giving him the chance to bully his way into a s***** contract, but I blame Happ for being a sack of s*** ever since. he's been horrible but is in denial! like anything else, you dont get better if you dont think you have a problem. Gose is on that boat to nowhere with him.
  14. Both Diaz and Kawasaki are better than Izturis. we'd be here all day naming pitchers who are in the jays system who are better than Happ.
  15. selfish-POS is Happ's middle name, thought you knew ?
  16. Stilson has been amazing this spring. he's going to be a great setup guy or closer in the near future.
  17. agree completely. Jays have to FO with the 8 man pen idea and get 3 solid bench options plus which ever backup catcher they decide to take. Izturis contract is almost as painful as watching him play. it's almost worth just cutting ties with him and using Kawasaki or Diaz. sell off an excess pen arm and have a better bench. time to take away the over kill safety net that AA seems to be in love with. Sierra Kawasaki Diaz Kratz start off that way and then move for a bat upgrade if Sierra sucks.
  18. please explain how Gose would get any better sitting on his ass in the majors? he'd get to pinch run once or twice a week and get 1 or 2 late inning AB/week. lol there are more problems to address before Gose not making the team is an issue.
  19. Toronto media is great for comic relief, but it's best to not listen most of the time and get info from a plethora of better online sources.
  20. any of the east teams can free fall if they have starter injuries or heart of the lineup bats. it's most likely going to be a case of which ever team stays healthy gets to the post season.
  21. Pat Gillick ended his career 94... 94 Labatt was in negotiations to sell to Interbrew. the deal was done 1995. Jays went from highest paid team to one of the least. the new ownership thought it could still make money selling out the RC while putting out an inferior product. that spiraled out of control in the late 90s as people stopped going because the team sucked.
  22. I think it would be better to cut ties with Izturis and have Diaz on the team.
  23. right now, I'd slot Hutch in far ahead of morrow. Redmond is ahead of Morrow as well.... Jesus that's depressing.
  24. he's not pitching better than a sketchy number 5 so far. Dickey Buehrle Hutch ? ? any of those 3 gets hurt and the jays may as well start a rebuild.
