    I've been watching the Blue Jays for essentially as long as I've been alive and I got into the more advanced stats maybe a year ago now I think it started with one of my friends trying to tell me Yunel Escobar didn't hustle enough to be an above average defender

    Probably not but at the same time I don't want to expect big things from this team. And I really hope we see an improved Melky, that'd be so sweet.

    Oh there's certainly a decent enough chance, but Ratmatazz has had his injuries, the rotation is s***, Bautista is getting up there, we have no C/2B/maybe LF, etc.

    Yeah, a fair assessment, in a vacuum the trade doesn't look great, but for a contending team, I think it's a justifiable move.

    It really doesn't look too terrible imho, I know Myers has been nice (with some HR/FB and BABIP help), but Shields has really worked out well for them.
