    Well there are so many stupid drugs that are banned, I'm sure one that might improve focus and concentration would be banned. Like why is marijuana banned? What would be the physical edge of that? Relaxing you maybe? I don't know.

    Exactly what I was thinking. My guess is it has a short half life as well, I wouldn't think it would be in his system that long. Probably took it day of the test. My guess is it would increase your focus and concentration, thus giving a mental edge. Since baseball is a lot, if not majority mental, it would probably give a pretty good advantage.

    My only assumption would be that Dickey is demanding Blanco be his catcher. Why though? I don't know. He had his best year last year. Thole is hitting .326/.397/.512 in AAA. Might as well try it out, can't be any worse.

    Yeah... but... I'd take that right about now lol. I don't. His velocity is down, may just be a bit, but I think it is making a difference. And I think it will only decline even more. Soon he'll be just another Tim Wakefield. I wonder if that 1-2mph difference is the reason why his control has been so bad this year.

    To be fair, a lot of us would have been pissed off if we gave the farm for Gio, no one expected his numbers to get better once leaving Oakland. Latos should have been the trade. 24 year old (near) ace locked up for the next four years.

    I made a post on the old board after the trade showing that almost every knuckleballer declined at this age, except for Niekro. It's a small sample size so it's hard to actually do a comparison, but looks like it holds true. On top of that, they say a knuckleball is less stress on the arm. What about the knuckleballer that is throwing it at near max velocity?

    Reminds me of League back when he was here. Not his delivery, but the speed and movement. It's almost like the pitches are so filthy with so much movement, you can't even control them. You have to throw it and hope it gets close.

    For the record, my post wasn't saying they are anything special after one outing, I was just saying they were doing great in AAA, and deserved a chance much sooner, rather than collecting other teams garbage.

    His stuff is filthy. I think there's so much movement, and add his jerky motion, it's hard to be consistent with control. As Hurl or someone mentioned, last year in his short stint in the majors he walked a batter an inning (or close). Wouldn't have mattered who he faced last night.

    Yeah, I made sure I noted I'm sure he will, but better to give him a chance than some of the other crap being ran out there.

    Didn't know I had to dumb it down for you to explain AA doesn't make the game decisions. Storey and Weber were here long enough to blow atleast one game off the top of my head, which is more than enough. Sorry if I'm not excited for a guy who had a 4.20ERA last year, when we have a guy who struck out 30 in 20IP, giving up 10H.
