Blue Jays Lurker 2023 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Numbers and the Eye Test don’t lie…Varsho is Trasho part time Barfsho He will tease us once every 10 games but he is what he is …. a pathetic career hitter and overrated outfielder He does not impact winning
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 I let Berrios pitch out of this, only way to improve going deep into games
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Atkins took a chance that 2022 Varsho (27 hr's) is the player we would get. He may still be that guy, but this is turning out to be the worst season of his short four year career. Not fair to judge the trade based on this season alone.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 25, 2023 Author Posted July 25, 2023 2 more interesting ones

No its not but in a Season where you want a win a world series can justify giving him another 200 AB’s to figure it out.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 That was me lol. Obviously being facetious on twitter, but Im getting kinda fed up. Lol I can’t say I blame you. The frustration is very warranted.

Not fair to judge the trade based on this season alone. and that's where talent evaluation comes into play, totally on Atkins and his scouts. The redflag for me was his low on base numbers - if you can't work the count, take walks the league will eventually figure you out - and they have
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 25, 2023 Author Posted July 25, 2023 I think the Springer one clearly shows the Jays issue with RISP. Double plays and easy outs when being too aggressive and Ks when the ABs don't go quickly. Dammed if you do, dammed if you dont lol
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Bottom line is that Ross traded for Varsho based on his offensive projections. This is why Ross is a turd. Berrios at least was an established MLB pitcher with a track record, unlike Varsho.

Its a bit unfair. But we gave up our top prospect...and a RHH LF, which we now need at the deadline. You have to be f***ing sure he is going to come close to 4.7 WAR consistently....he is a lot closer to making 1. If AA made this trade his nuts would be boiled in hot oil and fricasseed.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Oh Jesus Christ Varsho. Should have just pinch hit.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 25, 2023 Author Posted July 25, 2023 1st and 3rd 0 outs... Varsho Ks on a fastball up
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 OOA, DRS, and UZR all say he has been at least as good as Kiermaier in CF. All stats that require big numbers to tell a true tale. He's hardly played in Centre. Outfielder jump, arm strength and sprint speed are more tangible skill stats that give you insight into ability. If you think Varsho is Keirmaier you're delusional. To be fair, no one is Keirmaier. In pitching terms Varsho is a number 2 pitcher on defense, a number 2 pitcher on the base paths, but he's a number 5 or swing man with the bat. Coming into things I thought he was a number 1 like Keirmaier defensively, a number 2 on the base paths and a number 3 with the bat with potential to be a number 2. I hope he can turn it around with the bat.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 I would like to see Whit try to take second here
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 25, 2023 Author Posted July 25, 2023 Oh Jesus Christ Varsho. Should have just pinch hit. He has to stay in the game with Jansen unlikely to be available for the field
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 So first and third with no out and Varsho attempts to bunt, TWICE before striking out. This is looking really bad.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Please get Varsho off this f***ing team. So sick of this midget man.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 They just don’t learn from their mistakes.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 25, 2023 Author Posted July 25, 2023 I think the Springer one clearly shows the Jays issue with RISP. Double plays and easy outs when being too aggressive and Ks when the ABs don't go quickly. Dammed if you do, dammed if you dont lol They just did this exactly lmao
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 And of course the fat f*** hits into a DP. This team is not good for my mental health lol.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 The dreaded Varsho/Kirk combo didn't come through this time
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 You know its bad when even Dan sounds depressed
harvey16 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 How are we not sending Whit in that situation. Pathetic. This team is so frustrating to watch sometimes. We need to be much more aggressive in the bases with the speed we have.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 So we're going to throw a scrub from a s*** team this year into a 2-2 game. Schneider you idiot. I'm done for the day lol
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
