Maybe peoples expectations are too high? He’s not being paid like Superstar. I hate ground balls as much as anyone but people really like to zero in on Vlad. He certainly needs to change his approach for long term success. And once again put some more emphasis on his physical fitness.

Ya but he still took 6-7 pitches, that's a quality AB even if you don't get a hit, iirc.

 

Sometimes the release point can fool him when he thinks the ball is coming in more (esp the fastball) but it just stays outside. Unfortunately, Vlad doesn't want to go the other way for whatever reason, so he has to swing to pull on that fastball rather than waiting to see if the fastball will get to his sweet spot and swing late to drive it the other way.

I totally agree but u know he’s had waaaay to many unproductive AB’s this year. We can all hope he’s gonna address the situation in the off-season which I’m 100% sure he will. He knows it’s been an off year. He ain’t stupid, he got his old man’s genes in him.

ya for sure; not justifying the season but he has looked okay in both first inning ABs in the postseason (though, seemingly gotten worse last night as the game went on, maybe he was pushing)
