Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Kevin Smith, Biggio, and Espinal are all cool dudes I kind of want all of them to have a reasonable chance to steal a starting spot But I dont want to two of them to be starters by necessity Thats why Villar fits a bit I honestly cannot see a scenario (barring injury or moving him from 2B) where Biggio isn't considerably more valuable than Villar. I think Espinal and Villar are probably about even (age and cost gives the edge to Espinal) and if Smith can translate his AAA numbers to the majors, he could be the best of the bunch (though, so far he has had just a miserable time against MLB pitching). I just don't see why he'd be worth a roster spot (and losing someone from the 40 man) over those guys. He's not BAD per se, he's just redundant for the Jays.

Well I think all those guys have options Actually all FOUR could even fit on the MLB roster right now if they dont roster three f***ing catchers And it sounds like April rosters may be expanded
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Bring me villar or bring me death!
wamco Verified Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Could be a trade on the back burner? I agree. Hopefully that trade is trading villar to someone.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 I like our Vasquez move over this.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Author Posted March 13, 2022 The Villar hate is ridiculous. Villar would be fine if we were looking to replace Espinal or maybe even Biggio but definitely not a player of Semien's calibre. Hope this interest is because of a potential move for Ramirez where we'd need a 2B or a backup utility infielder.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Holy s*** Gomez, Get your s*** together. Why does Ross want this guy. payroll parameters?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Sir the Jays need an infielder and Villar is a projected improvement Error no he's not actually. Just looked. He would be a good depth addition though As depth, I don't have a problem. The fear is Villar would be the replacement for Semien. That's what most are objecting to I believe.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 I like our Vasquez move over this. So do I. That's a very large guarantee for a guy who probably should have been available on a minor league deal.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Bunch of smaller moves today... Red Sox get Diekman (better than Strahm at least there) Dodgers signed Hanser Alberto (Maybe that takes them out on Villar if they just wanted a utility guy?) Cubs signed Jesse Chavez (who is freaking 38 now. Damn) Astros signed Lewis Brinson (MiLB deal) Rangers signed Matt Moore (MiLB deal) Nationals signed Ehire Adrianza Mets signed Adam Ottavino. It's a flurry alright, just not of big names (yet).

It's a better position to be in, but still a s***** position. This only makes sense to me as a depth add to compete for a utility role and not as a stop gap in the infield.

The front office has to know that they need to supplement their core with a legitimate everyday infielder.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 In retrospect, before the Lockdown people were okay for J-Hay, but he signed yesterday with the Chisox, he and Villar are quite similar. Meh, I still think it's barring trade, likely one of Biggio or Espinal out in something for Chapman kind of thing? IDK

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 And? I'm talking about posts about transactions. Not everything needs to be an exact answer to the quoted post. I was just saying by the fact that it’s only a bunch of small deals going on (which could be negotiated very quickly), it seems the thought process that there’d be a flurry in the bigger names was mistaken

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 You talking to yourself again, shitstain? To old to understand replying to quotes, or have no balls Wait, when did the Spanky/wamco beef start? Is this some sort of "Off Topic" thing that I'm too Baseball to understand?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Just going to nip this in the bud right now guys... Keep it SOMEWHAT civil and ideally mostly on topic..

It still surprises me that Sanchez didn't turn into a stud. He was so good for us in his early years that it sucks seeing him like this.
