OT: Whatsapp Group

I have never even heard of Discord. Whatsapp is THE primary form of messaging anywhere outside NA and very popular there now as well. I cannot even tell you how much Whatsapp is used in South, Central America and the Carribean even for business. You don't even ask a person for their number anymore. You just say give me your Whatsapp.

 

You still need to get someones number to add them to WhatsApp I believe.

 

Other apps like WeChat or LINE are very popular in Asia and you don't need someones phone number. Only need their username or you can add a friend by scanning a generated barcode.

 

WeChat is probably way ahead of WhatsApp. In China, people use WeChat for everything, such as ordering food at restaurants and even paying for everything at stores, bars, restaurants etc. Don't think we have that with WhatsApp yet.

WeChat has some nice features but WhatsApp I think is more used internationally. If you’re in Asia though probably WeChat is more popular.

 

Long gone are the days of ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, and even Skype. Discord is pretty decent but it’s more popular in NA and it's not really a text messaging App.

LINE definitely has the best emojis. WeChat has good emojis as well. WhatsApp could step up their game in that department.

 

WhatsApp is banned in China, so thats why they use WeChat instead. Ask anyone who is Chinese and they have WeChat. It's extremely popular over there and they use it for everything else like I mentioned. WhatsApp is more used internationally however, though I still think WeChat is actually better and offers more features.
