You would think having Vlad jr would help in the recruitment of young DR players.

Apparently offset by having Curly and Larry in your front office.

Are the Jays linked to another big prospect this year or is the top dawg that they're getting, the number 27 ranked player?

They’re going in the “sign a bunch of mid-tier guys” approach, similar to when we got Hiraldo, Jimenez, Pardinho

But seeing how most of these guys have been committed for 1-2 years now, it’s difficult to gauge and plan ahead.

When the kids being scouted are 13-14 yrs old, prospects can drastically change in just 6 months at that age after they stop being showcased

Not this year. They went big with Orelvis Martinez ($3.5M) last year. They're gonna spread the wealth around and land several 6-digit guys this year.

Shatkins taking the overally cautious approach again! /s

That’s not exactly true.

Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis jr, Ronald Acuna were all not uber high profile guys at signing time, and they turned out okay.

Pardinho and Hiraldo were ranked fairly highly in the 2017 J2 class. Pardinho was considered the best available pitcher and Hiraldo the best pure hitter (Hiraldo actually had a 60 hit and 50 power compared to Wander Franco's 50 hit and 45 power before the J2 period for example). I'd say they're going a tier below that.

Not saying it's a bad approach or anything given the extreme volatility of IFA. Juan Soto and Tatis Jr. weren't exactly ranked highly either, but just pointing out that Pardinho and Hiraldo were a tier above the J2 agents we signed this period.

We need to start a GoFundMe to get Todd to the DR so he can produce his own scouting reports for us for these J2 kids.

I'm in for $10

Jays need to keep signing more. Going over the draft picks and the signings from the

and the other players this team now has a solid 60 to 65 prospects. And as many as 100

all totally.

And the blue jays have sign one more George Gomez, rhp, Venezuela. Which makes this

24 or 25.

You have a point with the signing more thing. Is there a legitimate reason not to have two summer league teams?

I think teams like the jays are giving up on players to fast. Some are not

getting enough playing time. For Example Luis Mendez had good numbers with the jays

and after i believe a season release him. And they are more. Some other mlb team have

up to ten minor league teams. This having between 35 and 40 players on them is

crap. Between last year and this year the jays so far have signed 74 international free agents

and signed 55 players from the last two drafts. That's 119 players. Enough for at least 3 teams.

More playing time for everybody and time to show what they have. And time to see the investment

teams have put into them.
