Jaysareus Verified Member Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 So far the acquisition of Donaldson hasn't helped Cleveland 1 iota
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 That sound off the bat was sweet.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 1. The Indians are the worst team in the playoffs, including Oakland. 2. Not sure how Boston is fading while being 1-1 against a team that also won 100 games. including the NL? theres no way the rockies are better than the indians, sorry.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Cleveland is a very good team. Just happen to be playing the best team this series
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Cleveland really just coasted through the regular season without any real challenge. They should have easily won 100 games but didn't. They're a very good team on paper (Lindor, Ramirez, Brantley, EE, Carrasco, Bauer, Kluber and a very deep BP).
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 They were a .500 team in record and run differential against non Central opponents. I think below .500 record. They have some really good talent but as a team are overrated. They deserve to get swept out of the playoffs by a clearly better team. When 47% of your games are against Min, KC, CWS, and Detroit, and you finish with the same record as the 3rd place team in the East, then no sympathy from me. Get swept and let real teams play in October.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 That Donaldson deal really paid off
xposbrad Verified Member Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 That Donaldson deal really paid off Ya because they gave up so much lol
Atlas Verified Member Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I’m honestly not sure though...but for the little that we got, maybe we came out on top of the Donaldson deal? Sure, we didn’t get much...but with Donaldson, and that complete lack of post-season performance...Cleveland got ZERO! And now it’s off to whichever the highest bidder is for Donaldson in pursuit of a free-agency contract...which, again, with his complete offensive absence in the post-season, easily cost him millions!
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 JD lost so much money this last year.

What about his playoff performances prior, anyhow all small sample sizes aside. His calf injuries have cost him money, but I don't think as much as people think.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Jose Ramirez, Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Donaldson combined 2 for 32 with 11 strikeouts for the series
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Why does no one have the same narrative for the Braves? 22 games over .500 in the s***** NL East 41-45 against the rest of the league.

The Braves deserved to get swept too (unfortunately they won a game). The Indians should have played the WC game. A minor tweak in the playoff format (keep the same amount of teams) would work with me. No excuse to have the Indians have a free pass to the DS considering what the Red Sox, Astros, Yankees, and A's had to go through (and all that better records).

I hate divisions but balanced schedules just don't work in baseball and divisions are a North American staple.
