Gurriel in last 18 games he has a hit in every game he started (one pinch hit with no hit), 11 of them multi-hit games all in a row, and is hitting .440/.486 1.166OPS.

Everyone un-clench, he might be out for a bit but it doesn't look like it's anything majorly serious.

Some reporters are mentioning that a DL trip is likely.

It was baseball survivor and we were on week 17 so few teams left to pick from. Jays had 6 games ..twins and wsox. We thought they could win half.

ahhh, didn't realize you only had a few teams to chose from. Sorry mate.

Anything's possible, but firing Gibby as a scapegoat wouldn't make sense. The team is what it is. Old and injured. No other manager would have this team performing any better.

I just get the feeling that Shapiro is going to want his own guy managing the team for a rebuild. The past 2 losing seasons under Gibby will be a convenient excuse.

A fracture would be better than a severe strain.

I don't think there's been any evidence to suggest that Gibby isn't already "their guy". They had the option to get rid of him many times and clearly don't want to. Atkins has already said that Gibby is part of the solution, not part of the problem.

If they get rid of Gibby, it will be to give themselves more rope. I'm sure they made it clear to Rogers from the start that this decline was going to happen and that they have a plan to compete with a smaller payroll when the big contracts are off the books.

So, TL;DR, I would be shocked if they fire Gibby. He's a good manager and a freaking great guy who has remained positive in spite of these past two years. There are no stories of any type of mutiny forming. No players are saying they are desperate to leave. If Gibby goes, that's a huge hit to my trust of Shapiro and Atkins.

Anything that involves him not being cut open is great news.
