Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 As much as Martin has struggled, I have to wonder if he might actually be a fit for Boston? We wouldn't get anything in return, but saving the 20M next year would be nice.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Hes reaching just as far as the Sox fan today. Totally ridiculous call. I will never get over that Yeah, we got jobbed.
spats Verified Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 What the hell was Gibby thinking? Now Martin's at 3rd and 2 of their best hitters are out of the game. Question answered...Smoak hurt.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Come on, Randal. Hit that game-tying jack.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Martin is just hitting his stride. Gonna be back to an all star level soon...oh wait lmao
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Jays are moving on up in the reverse standings

I mean, I wouldn't mind, even if the return was minimal as the Jays aren't going anywhere for the remainder of Martin's contract and he's declining, but the salary savings would be next to nothing. No team is touching even 80% of that contract.

While were at it move Tulo to infield coach and JD to hitting coach. 60M dollar coaching staff. Might actually get some value out of these guys that way

No team is touching even 80% of that contract. Hard to say. Certainly we'd have to eat a good portion of it, but catcher IS the one spot Boston really needs to upgrade. They could very easily prefer paying money over prospect capital to do so. Vazquez being out until the end of the season really hurts them, not that he was exactly lighting it up offensively anyway.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Author Posted July 13, 2018 Unless you can actually shed like 50% of the contract I would rather they hang onto Martin. Way more useful to mentor Jansen as a back up than to pay him to play for another team. Jansen should get the starting job out of Spring. Jansen should probably be catching everyday by September.

First of all you know that no one is going to give the Jays 50% of his contract for Martin now or ever, and keeping him as a mentor what are you thinking? Pull a Yankee move like Arod and in 2019, give Martin a hug and say good by, at least he does not take up a spot on the team......
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Author Posted July 13, 2018 Game 2: Notes: Ryan Borucki threw seven strong innings of one-run baseball against the Yankees on Sunday, but picked up a no decision. The only run Borucki allowed was on an RBI ground out off the bat of Miguel Andujar in the first inning. He didn’t allow anyone to cross the plate over the next six innings, and he walked two and struck out five. Borucki has been exceptional since his call-up, and he’s allowed no more than two runs and gone six-or-more innings in all three of his starts.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Hope that isn't plantar fasciitis for Teo, I've enjoyed watching the Mirage this year.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Pillar did not read that well. Yeah, I thought he probably should have caught that.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Yeah, I thought he probably should have caught that. Yup, if he broke back and kept running, he should've had it. Bad read off the bat. Geeze... now both Gurriel and Martin should've made that play. Tough on Martin but still possible... ugly D.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Questionable decision by Gurriel, but Martin has to have that.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Great job by Borucki limiting the damage. We can't give that team 5 and 6 outs if we want to win.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Martins a sack of s***. Won't be sorry when his tenure as a Jay is done.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 They need to pull their heads out of their ass, nice inning by Borucki. Did they mention Borucki's pitch count for tonight, I'd have to guess around 60 pitches?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 lol... JD Martinez suxxxxxxxxxxxx in the OF.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Author Posted July 13, 2018 And that’s why JD Martinez is a DH lol
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 lol... JD Martinez suxxxxxxxxxxxx in the OF. Yeah lol. Great job by Pillar to pick up on that and advance.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Author Posted July 13, 2018 Martinez should be shaggy balls in OF with the pitchers. That is f***ing embarrassing lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Nice job LGJ... makes up for that error!
