jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Looks like the end of the road for Joey Bats: See you on the Level of Excellence in the coming years..
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Hopefully we sign him as a minors hitting coach or something and let him work his way up as a big leagues coach?
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Hopefully we sign him as a minors hitting coach or something and let him work his way up as a big leagues coach? maybe he can coach Morales?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 maybe he can coach Morales? Lol doubt it, but would be interesting.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Would rather see Bautista DH than Morales.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 well, even if he's done, at least he has a shot at getting a WS ring this year.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 well, even if he's done, at least he has a shot at getting a WS ring this year. No he doesn't.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 No he doesn't. Why is it a definitive "No?" (well, the ring actually would be handed out next year in the unlikely event that the Braves are the 2018 champs and Bats is deemed worthy.)
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Bautista's last MLB homerun (from Monday):
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 I'm sure he has his agent making calls. Might be coming soon to an AAA team near you.

(well, the ring actually would be handed out next year in the unlikely event that the Braves are the 2018 champs and Bats is deemed worthy.) It's my statement that the Braves are not making the playoffs...I like the Jays chances better than I like the Braves.

sdyment Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Cue the countdown to the one day contract and retirement announcement. It’ll make it easier to forget this ATL silliness
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Shapiro should throw a minor league contract his way. His depth at third shouldn't be shallower than Urshela's. If he somehow is needed by the big club and gets an extended run, it's possible he may find a large window of success in familiar surroundings.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 If Bautista's stint in Atlanta told you anything is that he should probably never play Third Base again. You know when they bench you for Ryan Flaherty they have zero confidence in you.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Wow, surprised AA cut bait so quickly given their history together. JoeyBats only had 40 AB's. He did look pretty ugly out there at times though. I guess it was evident that he wasn't going to cut it. Sorta sad to see him go out with such a wimper. His regression was fast and unrelenting.

Maybe behind the scenes helped ease the decision?

I'd say his decline, not his regression.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 some have declared 2018 Year One of a Braves Dynasty not a ruddy clue why Literally 0 people have decreed this. .. at least on this board

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Read a little bit on here...... before rushing to a hasty attempt at an attack..... Please learn the differnce between "regression" and "retrogression" before attempting to sound like you're trying to make an intelligent observation.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Mets have signed him He needs to give up. It's undignified at this point.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Good for Bautista not giving a s*** about legacy or career numbers. Play the game you love as long as you possibly can because you only live once.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 He needs to give up. It's undignified at this point. It's a guaranteed MLB deal, not sure for how much though. I would guess in the neighbourhood of $1M retroactive to today. Hopefully the Mets give him a decent run. In the case he fails, he can at least walk away content.

CBlake Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 His release from the Braves and signing with the Mets means his return to Toronto is only pushed back by about two weeks, hopefully. We play the Mets @ Rogers Centre July 3 and 4 So if he sticks... 5 minute standing ovation for him.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 5 minute standing ovation for him. Yeah They might as well just plan for a 10 minute break in the game during his first plate appearance
