Idea: Breaking Blue Podcast

I've been thinking recently about how s***** Toronto baseball talk radio is and then it occurred to me that we have some pretty funny, informed and interesting posters on this very board. I'd like to float this idea.

 

Framework:

-Weekly podcast, evening, approx. 1 hour

-Cover weekly Blue Jays news (I intend for it to be Blue Jay centric)

-Cover news around baseball

-Segment called "Orioles Hangout suxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" where we delve into that s*** hole and laugh at dumb posts.

-Fantasy discussion that for once focuses on deeper 7x7 leagues. This section includes bantz and trash talk re: DDL. Discuss hot/not, the whole deal.

-When it gets big enough, take fan questions.

-Weekly guests, either board posters or, if we get the clout, someone like Barry Davis. Dream is Gibby. Maybe real life celebrity Roy Firestone or weams!

 

I'd like to have around 4 regulars that are a good mix of funny, knowledgable and interesting but that each bring something different to the table. Some suggestions (not at all limited)

- Silvergun (even with his TDS, he's interesting funny and knowledgable)

- Greenwood as the token contrarian.

- and more!

 

Of course, there will be times we will need a fill in, so the lineup wouldn't be set in stone.

I feel like the size and scope you're suggesting will cause it to fizzle rather than reach the heights you want. I think you would want to have a site/blog with pregame and postgame writeups, minors articles, etc at minimum to complement it. That would help generate and keep the interest.

I don't hate Silvergun, I just had to block him for being too much of an *******. If he stops being such an ******* then I have no qualms. He's funny and knowledgable.

 

I'm looking for guys who would be committed to this. It would only be an hour per week and that hour can be flexible.

Yeah I wouldn't mind doing a write-up of the podcast but since this won't be daily, I don't feel that blogging about each game is necessary. I'm not looking to make any money from this, it would be just for fun.

The Jays pods now aren't very good. I'm not sure a bunch of message board posters are the ones to improve that situation but maybe we could. All it would take is two decent people.

I think if you were to make a go of it you would have to keep it very Blue Jays involved. Not a lot of maple leaf fans are not likely going to want to listen to a podcast that is half else were in the MLB.

As someone who lives overseas and relies on this board and a few other sites to get more detail on the Jays, I would even pay you guys for your efforts. Nothing massive, but if the content is informative and entertaining, would pay/donate something to the tune of $5 USD per podcast (or $10 USD a month). If enough people are keen, could see this growing.

I think we should make a poll asking the fine posters of the BJMB of the top 2-3 people they would like to listen too and then based on those results ask the people if they would be interested and just keep moving down the list until we get a couple people to commit to it.

I'm not intending for this to pander to the masses. I am aiming for something that would be entertaining and informative.

Once per week and it shouldn't be too difficult to create an outline. Whoever the hosts turn out to be, we could split it 3/4 ways. I think structure is important but I don't want to be too rigid. Sometimes tangents can be great.

 

Also, need I remind you that Jen Mac Saturn Pluto Ramos has its own podcast on HBT? The bar isn't exactly that high.
