Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 I'm so happy to see HR's and RBI's playing a massive role in these awards... Josh Bell puts up a 108 wRC+, 0.8 WAR season and gets nominated for ROY over Austin Barnes - 142 wRC+, 2.5 WAR Rhys Hoskins - 158 wRC+, 2.2 WAR The list of NL rookies who were better than Bell this year also includes Pina, Margot, Albies, Happ, Jose Martinez, Camargo, Almora Jr., Nimmo, Difo and Aguilar, Rivera But Bell hit 26 HRs and had 90 RBIs....and I don't care that he played 159 games. If he didn't, he wouldn't those counting stats and nobody would even talk about him. I mean nobody f***ing cares because Bellinger, but still.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I hate Eric Hosmer's undeserved reputation as a good defensive 1B.

Ray Verified Member Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 AL Cy Young: 1. Corey Kluber (28 1st place votes) 2. Chris Sale (runner-up) 3. Luis Severino NL Cy Young: 1. Max Scherzer (27 1st place votes) 2. Clayton Kershaw (runner-up) 3. Stephen Strasburg Runaway for both awards. I'd say they got it right. Kershaw missed too much time again.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Altuve runs away with the AL MVP (27 of 30 first place votes). Judge finishes 2nd. Stanton edges out Votto for NL MVP (302 to 300). 6 NL players got 1st place votes (Stanton + Votto with 10 each, Bryant, Blackmon, Arenado, Goldy).

I'd have gone with Sale but both were deserving. Kinda surprised it wasn't closer, Sale hit 300 strikeouts.

He was actually 7th among NL batters in bWAR though
