Yes and he is cheap, so he is not necessarily going anywhere. BUT like I say, if you depend on him to be your everyday 2nd baseman and he can't answer the bell, you need to have a better backup plan than they do currently.

How many teams have 2 starting bats at any position? C'mon! Utility guys are expensive and hard to find.

The point is if you have a guy with some serious issues around staying healthy you need better depth. That would ideally take the form of a super utility guy like Brock Holt or Josh Harrison. Guys like Goins and Barney are acceptable bench guys for small amounts of playing time. But if you have a guy you expect to be an everyday player but with a likely-hood of missing 60+ games due to injury, you need a better way to fill the void.

And like I said above... they're expensive and hard to find.

Gurriel could be the long term solution, but after his injury to start this season, 2018 might be too soon for him.

That's not what you said above. You asked how many teams have 2 starters at a position. And good utility guys are not necessarily expensive but yes they are not easy to find. They are also well worth whatever you need to spend to get a good one. Harrison is currently on a 4 yr/$27 M contract through 2018 with 2 team options in '19 and '20. Word is he could be available. Jays should look into it.

ETA: oh I missed the last part of your earlier post.

Well whatever -IF you are going to have these injury prone guys like Tulo and especially Travis - you need better depth of one kind or another

Lourdes is our saviour, that injury sucked as he'd likely be playing at some point this season. He'll likely make the team in'18, good call.

WTF is Harrell

Scrub AAA starter we signed in the offseason to fill out the Bisons rotation. He was called up after the bullpen was emptied in the first game of the series last night.

And he needs to show he can stay off the DL. Biggio is a guy to keep an eye on but wouldn't expect he could jump to MLB next season.
