Are there any requirements to be eligible for the roster? Surely some college/high school kid from the other Team Canada or some hard throwing minor leaguer could have been asked to join the squad.

I think so - if we're talking about starters. Ryan Kellogg is interesting so one of those two.

 

Obviously some of the relievers are probably better for ~25 pitch spurts. Henderson, Molleken, Rowan Wick, Gagne even.

 

I know I'd start even Andrew Albers over this version of Dempster.

Albers is useful with this roster since you know he'll at least throw strikes and give you a chance to get lucky.

 

Dempster looked okay in the first but had no command and then started throwing the splitter on every pitch.

 

I suppose it doesn't matter who they chose to start. They need to get multiple innings out of Dempster and Albers anyway.

 

The Cruz double seemed to rattle Dempster's cage.

I'm glad the calls for him to manage the Blue Jays have died down to nothing. That was annoying.

I would have liked to be in that South Korea group... Basically we have to beat Colombia in order to remain qualified for the next WBC. Otherwise we have to go through a qualification tournament.

 

Hopefully players want to play in four years....
