One more Whitecaps win or one Lake County Captains loss in the first half's final three games would clinch a playoff berth for the defending Midwest League champs. Dowdy (Win, 4-1) allowed seven total hits in seven frames, tying his season high, walking one, and watching his ERA raise to 2.40 due to solo home runs from Justin Atkinson and Josh Almonte in the third inning, the second homer of the season for each. West Michigan countered with a 19-hit attack, catalyzed by Derek Hill homering off Tayler Saucedo's first pitch of the game. Saucedo (Loss, 2-6) allowed 14 hits and eight runs in five innings, including three runs apiece in each of the first two innings. Whitecaps first baseman Will Maddox, another Midwest League All-Star, was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and a walk, and designated hitter Will Allen finished 5-for-5 with five singles. http://i.imgur.com/VzSdGSR.png http://i.imgur.com/nEsaKLv.png http://i.imgur.com/Rht3k3E.png Kings 3 Stars of the Night 1) Sean Reid Foley: Making his first start in Dunedin, SRF was on point. 7 innings with 12 strikeouts... not much more needs to be said. 2) Jonathan Davis: Davis went 2/3 with a home run and a walk. 3) Jeremy Gabryszwski: Gabryszwski continued his solid season.. going 7 innings with 8 strikeouts.
