It seems like teams are always so hesitant to get their guys healthy. It's really weird and stupid but I guess 15 days is a while. For a reliever that is probably like 6 appearances or so.

 

Players don't want to go on the DL especially if they are in a contract year.

Jays and Dickey were pretty much the same at this point last year. Lots of ball left to be played.

Also only 2.5 GB of the division lead. Still so much baseball left, yeah its been a disappointing start but things can change so quickly as we remember last year.

Yep, but teams really have to get better at assessing injuries. It's always safer to give a guy more time off and get the results you're looking for when they come back

Coming into the game Dickey pitched a lot better than I thought. Whiff rate over 10% and his FIP was the lowest since his Cy Young year. Personally I hate the randomness of the knuckleball but its encouraging to see its not just him pitching bad. A .353 BABIP and LOB% of 52.8% is going to regress big time.

Is he even injured though? If nothing is wrong physically and his velo is just down because of decline there really nothing you can do.

Dickey 6.75 ERA for the month of April. Though his FIP of 4.15 is typical for his last 2 years with us.

Yeah I'm not too concerned about Dickey. Underlying stats seem to show he's the same guy as pretty much always. Like the last few years he'll probably improve as the year goes on. Ditto Cecil too.
