Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I just don't understand how a guy like Pillar can be 'given' the leadoff spot with little to no success as a major league hitter, hopefully Gibby can see the light before the season starts. It's baffling and we all hate it. Try to comfort yourself with the knowledge that it really doesn't matter very much -- over the course of a full season it might make a difference of a few runs.

I'm confident Gibby will pull the plug if it gets too bloody too. He seems fairly adaptable when it comes to the batting order.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Anyone concerned Donaldson hasn't had 1 XBH so far this spring?

I wouldn't say it's terribly likely that Travis comes back quickly but if he did it would make the decision even more inconsequential.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Anyone concerned Donaldson hasn't had 1 XBH so far this spring? Maybe you. That's about it.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Anyone concerned Donaldson hasn't had 1 XBH so far this spring? his ribcage injury is probably worse than we know it to be
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Anyone concerned Donaldson hasn't had 1 XBH so far this spring? Ya he is probably a bust this year.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Hutch throwing elevated fastballs again, walking Miggy, and getting lit up by Saltalamacchia. Why are elevated fastballs inherently bad?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 his ribcage injury is probably worse than we know it to be Has there been anything written about this?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Anyone concerned Donaldson hasn't had 1 XBH so far this spring? I'm more concerned that it's 2016 and certain people still don't understand the implications of "small sample size".

That makes you sound smart lol nah that was just a troll. Credit to him for resisting. Lol that post doesn't make me look stupid. I was just asking if anyone thought it was concerning Donaldson didn't have an extra base hit. Someone pointed out he has been dealing with something so it makes more sense.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Sounds like Saunders just beat out an infield single. Not that he didn't appear healthy before, but this is good.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Why are elevated fastballs inherently bad? Because his have been described as flat, slow, and are many times crushed. They also note that his release looks off, leading to these, which seemed to be a consistent issue for him last season regarding his command.

Apparently was looking to steal too. Got thrown out at home, but was Luis Rivera's doing... Rivera makes some horrible decisions as 3rd base coach.

Saunders might make the team look pretty stupid for wanting Jay Bruce. It's way too early for that of course but one can dream.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 Jon Heyman @JonHeyman 9m9 minutes ago Daniel Norris left start w/ lower back tightness. He first felt stiffness after trying jumping drill on own. Was talked to.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 It was already stupid to want Bruce That could very well be true. There's a pretty good possibility Bruce suck ass this year which would also make the front office look stupid (and damn lucky it didn't go through).
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Weren't we taking back a bit of money with Bruce too... Hopefully there will be $ to make some additions at the deadline again.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 This lineup is absolutely crazy. Edwin hasn't even played this Spring and the lineup without him is still terrifying. EDIT: And Saunders with a huge double. Dude should be leading off. Gibby christened Pillar with the job without even giving open try outs a fair shake. It's painfully obvious the decision was based on nothing but perception.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Saunders is just killin' it this spring, damn.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Jason BeckVerified account @beckjason Norris walking gingerly straight to clubhouse with Kevin Rand. He pitched today because he was scratched Saturday with lower back stiffness. Same injury.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Hutch throwing elevated fastballs again, walking Miggy, and getting lit up by Saltalamacchia. How'd that work out...
