Penny was like 8th on the Buffalo depth chart.

True, but i don't think that was ever a factor in him signing, I thought he legit wanted to keep playing... but I guess he thought it wasn't worth the trouble and rather stay with his family

A lot of these guys keep playing because they like the lifestyle and really don't feel like spending 365 days a year with their family. It's not about the money.
