I love Benintendi, and maybe I should have pulled the trigger on him for Kyle straight up (too much personal bias involved there, I'm afraid) but if you say Melancon = Piscotty, no way Sale = Benintendi at this point. It very easily may work out for Spittin but he did not get good or even adequate value for Sale.

It's only half a season, but:

 

.282/.348/.467 with 29 HR in his first year and a half, looks pretty good.

I don't think there's any question that he's worth a lot more than Melancon.

Frankly, there's a reasonable chance he ends up worth more than Benintendi.

I dunno, at first glance it looked like an auto accept. Sale's K rate was down almost 2K/9 last season, I could see him being a beast in the NL though. I got younger so as long as these 2 guys live up to their expectations this should pay dividends for years.

I think you paid as though Benintendi is 100% to be at least, say, Starling Marte good. If he is that good beginning in 2017, the trade is fine.

I don't really understand where the 'BTS loves platoon guys' thing comes from. I've cycled through a lot of them during a retool in the DDL, but that would be like me posting about how much you love terrible players because you've had a lot of them during your DDL rebuild. In BORED I have Naquin, who was pretty valuable, and in LOD I have a very good offense with at least 7 guys who will play every day.
