I actually voted against P2F’s proposal to add the second year of picks, out of the same concerns you have. I’m in a hockey sim league where we can trade 4 years of picks, and there are owners inheriting teams with almost no picks until 2024. It’s insane.

 

I’ve enjoyed the flexibility of having the second year in LoD though. I think we’d have to put any change in BORED to a vote.

 

Should be 3 vote options:

 

1. make 2022 picks available, early, after this draft

2. make 2022 picks available after 2021 draft

3. make 2022 and 2023 picks available after 2021 draft

 

1st option temporarily addresses the weakness of the 2021 draft, with no other changes.

 

2nd option maintains status quo and avoids the Gibbers effect.

 

3rd option makes a permanent switch to 2 years of pick availability.

Wouldn’t my history be the better example for the second option? Trading away future picks and therefore making it harder on someone taking over said team? Doesn’t Gibbers just load up with more draft picks than you can humanly make. I think the former would be more of an issue than the latter unless Gibbers cloned himself

Well, I mean I had good intentions and wanted to win now. I’ve done a good job rebuilding (prospect wise) my BORED team that wasn’t even even a contender in the first place.

 

But not everyone is in it for the long haul. And sometimes even committed owners bail when something in life comes up. So that’s the minus of letting teams trade 2 years out.
