Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Ah crap, I just realized Gattis won't have OF next season. Poop. I guess I could trade one of him or Grandal, probably OB. Dee Gordon is also available cheap now. What do you consider cheap for Gordon?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 What do you consider cheap for Gordon? Someone better than Shelby Miller but worse than Aaron Sanchez.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Can someone change Chappy to jaysblue in the Google Dick?
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Will do that and process trades tonight
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 To Dinger: Porcello To me: Grandal
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I refuse to believe that trade is real
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I refuse to believe that trade is real I didn't get any sleep last night, trust me.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I didn't get any sleep last night, trust me. He won't last the season on your team
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I wouldn't have guessed that Porcello is younger than Grandal.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I'm trying to abstract this with algebra so I don't have to think about the fact that I just acquired a pitcher who once cost me $500. Porcello = Duffy, therefore in my mind I traded Grandal for Odor, which fills a need from a depth.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I needed a catcher pretty badly especially with Norris & Salty as my only two options currently on the roster. I added some pitching at the deadline with Nola & Gray so I had the SP depth to make this swap.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I think they both just had career years so it's pretty hard to tell who's going to be better. It's probably pretty even, but Grandal was ranked 279th this year and Porcello was ranked 16th. A lot of that is the fluky win total, but it's also the 220 IP of 5.9 K/BB. I also ended up benching Grandal or Gattis a lot last year when they were both scorching hot, it wasn't a very efficient use of a roster spot.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 I like the Grandal side. No bias at all
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Britton and Benintendi available...
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I have a few players that I won't be able to keep. If anyone wants them cheap, let me know. Looking for small waiver upgrades or small draft upgrades. Nick Hundley. Colby Lewis. Robbie Erlin. Nick Tropeano.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 These guys can all be had for draft picks: Brad Hand (111 Ks in relief!) Brett Lawrie (is terrible, please take him) Ryan Madson (30 saves) Jake Diekman Jim Johnson (20 saves, 2.71 FIP) Tyler Beede (MLB tho)

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 How did you end up with Beede on your pro roster? Unowned prospects that did not hit AA or higher in the previous year cannot be added to MLB rosters on Yahoo, even if they hit AA, unless they are called up to the big leagues. --- Prospects may not be promoted to the MLB roster until they have played at least one game at AA or higher. Similarly, free agent prospects may not be added to a MLB man roster until they have played at AA or higher. (Note: This rule is intended to prevent issues arising from owning players in the low minors added to the database by Yahoo.)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 I had an open NA spot so I decided to stash him, which was legal since he pitched in AA in 2015. I might even keep him, he could debut any time and potentially be a solid SP.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Wasn't questioning the legality, I was just curious as to how that happened. You never promote prospects early. And we all know that there's 0 chance you roster a guy in AA or AAA past the cut.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 I don't have to, I'll just pillage the waiver draft like I always do.

spittin Verified Member Posted December 5, 2016 Author Posted December 5, 2016 Hello, sorry for my long hiatus. Gonna try and make more time for the board as I've been neglecting my duties as of late on all fronts. I have a trade to announce, Frenchsoup gets Chris Sale and Mark Melancon Spittin gets Benintendi and Piscotty.

Noticeably less valuable starters were asked for and rejected by a number of teams, and you added a tier 1 (lower end of the tier if anything) closer to go along with it. Piscotty has some value himself, but yikes, seems like Frenchsoup made out like a bandit here.
