spittin Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Author Posted May 3, 2016 God damn it really pisses me off that I was so close to getting Arenado and had to settle for Sano. FML. He's basically Todd Frazier away from Coors, still 3 more years until he goes full re-Todd.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 He's basically Todd Frazier away from Coors, still 3 more years until he goes full re-Todd. Nah, that's a ******** narrative that gets stuck on a lot of Rockies. First of all, spending half your time in the high altitude means you're at a physiological disadvantage when you have to play at sea level, because balls break more and carry less than you're used to. Also, the road stadiums in that division are predominantly pitchers' parks. If Arenado played for a different team in a different division, you'd probably see his splits normalize significantly and he probably wouldn't be that much worse overall than he is now.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Hey guys, trade me all your suspended players! --- To Frenchsoup: David Robertson, Mike Leake, Hrrrrrrrrraimel Tapia To Dingdong: Aroldis Chapman, Hellickson, 6th rd pick in upcoming MiLB draft Soupy to confirm.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Biggest beneficiary of this trade is BTS, who now has one less closer to face this week.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 did FS give you a significantly better closer than Robertson and a better pitcher than Leake because Chapman is suspended for a week and Tapia might play at Coors one day?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I definitely like the Chapman side of that. The rest of the trade probably isn't relevant for either side.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I still like Tapia, he's just getting BABIPed right now. He's cut his K rate and doubled his BB rate, and hit .300 at every level. Probably a 15/25 guy at Coors.

I get your point but in what universe is Hellickson better than Leake?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I get your point but in what universe is Hellickson better than Leake? Agreed. Leake is going to even out while Hellickson is just a run-of-the-mill gas can. I didn't want Hellickson, FS was cutting him so I asked to take him just cause the FA pool is super gross.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I get your point but in what universe is Hellickson better than Leake? The one where he has a better xFIP and SwStr?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Also I think there's a strong possibility that Chapman might not be the closer when he returns. Andrew Miller currently has a negative FIP.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Also I think there's a strong possibility that Chapman might not be the closer when he returns. Andrew Miller currently has a negative FIP. Miller keeps this up no way I see them taking him out of the closer role. You'll see an announcement saying that they like having Chapman in a more flexible role since he's a lefty. He and Betances will pitch 7/8, I think which inning will depend on what hitters are due up.

No need to do Chapman any favours.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Hellickson is da bomb, x-cept when he gets rail-roaded.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Hellickson is da bomb, x-cept when he gets rail-roaded. If you're saying he's likely to blow up at any instant, then sure.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 da bomb, x-cept eat s*** and smell farts
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 eat s*** and smell farts You get mine after a night of mixing it up!!!!!!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 If you're saying he's likely to blow up at any instant, then sure. He's pitched quite well thus far. Just saying.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 eat s*** and smell farts sounds delicious
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Yeah this might not be too bad if Miller stays closer (plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) but I'd still take the Chapman side.
spittin Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Author Posted May 3, 2016 The one where he has a better xFIP and SwStr? For April 2016?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 For April 2016? This guy called Arenado ^^^^^ Todd Frasier?!?!?!
