Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I posted the wrong list last night. Those were the pitcher rankings. As for the six-year-value, I basically just take the expected 2016 value, and add modifiers based on age. Basically, I expect players over 28 to decline, and players under 28 to improve. The model doesn't do a good job with young players who have a low base score though. So, a 22 year old who shows significant promise but isn't projected to help a ton this year, won't score that well. I might do another one based on just 2016 values. Don't pay too much attention to rankings though. I've seen plenty of teams expected to do poorly, do quite well, and I've seen teams ranked 1st, with multiple elite players, finish at the bottom of the league and drop out, but still have time for other dynasty leagues. Zing!

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Damn, it looks like I don't even have a farm to rebuild... Nah, you have some great prospects. Benintendi is just starting to get some love. If he does what he did last year, he'll be top ten by the end of the year. And Vlad Jr. isn't popping up on too many charts yet, because he's young and unknown to a degree. Basically, the more you stick to the standard ratings, the more points you get.

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Basically, players are given a score of 1-100 based on their placement in the various lists, with higher weightings going to the more established ranking systems. If a player doesn't appear on any lists, they get 0 points. It doesn't factor in rookie-eligible players that are on the MLB roster (ie Seager).

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Let's just throw out the #1 and #2 prospect on every list, but everyone else, ur good. Kinda seems like you just wanted to put yourself 1st.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 That's rly dumn You're welcome to go through each of the rosters and look up who is rookie eligible, and set up your own farm rankings. Plus, I didn't want to double count, and give Seager credit for being on an MLB ream and a farm. For the LOD one, I'm going to have to go by rookie eligible status, as the flags are all messed up, so it's hard to easily get a list of the players on the farm.

Kinda seems like you just wanted to put yourself 1st. Kind of a low blow. 1) It's a natural separation, as evidenced by the way we did our draft. 2) It's extra work to go through and find all the rookie eligible players. 3) That's how I did all the farm rankings last year too. 4) I included players like Seager etc when doing the major league rankings, so don't want to double count. 5) This has nothing to do with being 1st, but even if all those players were included, I'd still be first. It's not really a secret, that I prioritized the farm.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Dan: Can you briefly elaborate on your concerns re: Buxton? I know soft and spinning got him a lot last year but his upper minors exposure was so limited, he definitely still needs reps. But Paul said on the pod he thinks he’s Billy Hamilton which seems extreme to say the least, considering Buxton’s bat speed for one is light years better. 12:39 Eno Sarris: I’m concerned about that strikeout rate, especially since he’s stuck out more in the higher minors and it’s supported by a bad MLB swSTR%. I’m not sure that Hamilton is the right comp. I’m worried he’s a healthy Maybin (when healthy). Could be Austin Jackson too. I’m not picking based on race, more plate discipline. Lorenzo Cain is the very best scenario. Dammit. Anthony Gose? Jesus. How about: Odubel Herrera with great defense?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Lol Lorenzo Cain is not the very best case scenario.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Claims not picking on race, name's 6 black players
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Lol Lorenzo Cain is not the very best case scenario. I hope you enjoy your LOD Austin Jackson more than I enjoy mine brah
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I hope you enjoy your LOD Austin Jackson more than I enjoy mine brah A year ago he was frequently comped to Trout, so I'm not too worried. I think 2015 Cain was a great player and Buxton will hopefully have many seasons like that, but it definitely doesn't represent his ceiling.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 The kid had a .305/.367/.500 line between AA/AAA this year as a 21 year old with 13/22 in half a season. Way too early to write him off.
