King Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 lmao 20 hit, 20 power, 20 speed, 20 OFP
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Show of hands: anybody other than Greenwood ever heard of Jason Vosler? I just assume he's an org guy who will fall on his face in AA and I'll cut him for the summer draft. Then why did you insist on him?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 lmao 20 hit, 20 power, 20 speed, 20 OFP Geez, I sure hope that means "20 HR/20 SB"
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Then why did you insist on him? I'm a chronic self-sabotager.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I almost want to cut him right now.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hang on to him, and I will trade you something mid-season for him as soon as one of my guys gets bumped up
King Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hang on to him, and I will trade you something mid-season for him as soon as one of my guys gets bumped up Sounds like collusion to me.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Sounds like collusion to me. You honestly haven't figured out by now that AG is my troll account?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 A 20 speed guy with 5 triples and 3 SBs in 450 PA. Sounds accurate.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hang on to him, and I will trade you something mid-season for him as soon as one of my guys gets bumped up What do you see in him? Is he a personal friend, and you just kinda have to roster him...
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hang on to him, and I will trade you something mid-season for him as soon as one of my guys gets bumped up What happens if he stinks at the start of the year?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 A 20 speed guy with 5 triples and 3 SBs in 450 PA. Sounds accurate. Evan Gattis had like 10 triples this year. Don't underestimate how bad defence is in the low minors.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Jason Vosler was "Cistulli's Guy" in the Cubs Fangraphs 2016 list
King Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 What do you see in him? Is he a personal friend, and you just kinda have to roster him... I assume its the 16% walk rate and .200 ISO in High A.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Evan Gattis had like 10 triples this year. Don't underestimate how bad defence is in the low minors. I'm gonna go ahead and take the safer bet in that BP just thinks he sucks and tanked all of his attributes artificially.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I'm gonna go ahead and take the safer bet in that BP just thinks he sucks and tanked all of his attributes artificially. That report was probably filed by some snot nosed chubby loser in a fedora who only watched a game or two. I don't give it an iota of credibility, but it is funny.
King Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Jason Vosler, 3B In terms of performance relative to age relative to level, Vosler is roughly the equal of Mark Zagunis, ranked ninth in the organization by Farnsworth. Both recorded roughly equal walk and strikeout rates this past year at High-A Myrtle Beach. Both exhibited at least average power at that level. Both enter their age-22 seasons in 2016. In fact, Vosler likely has the advantage defensively: while Zagunis recorded the majority of his starts in an outfield corner, Vosler occupied third base almost exclusively. The difference, mostly? Pedigree. Zagunis was selected in the third round of the 2014 draft out of Virginia Tech; Vosler, in the 16th round of that same draft, out of Northeastern in Boston. Nor is that something one ought to ignore entirely — and Zagunis does possess greater speed and athleticsm. Still, with regard to those traits which both (a) can be captured by numbers and ( translate most directly to wins, Vosler is well-acquitted. Here, by way of conclusion, is a 20-plus second video of Vosler homering on August 29th: https://streamable.com/q8i9?t=2.1
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I assume its the 16% walk rate and .200 ISO in High A. For hitters, I pretty much rely on the stats, and only look at the scouting reports to get a sense of their defense.
