We take Hunter Pence

Love it. I was seriously considering him at 145, just a consistently above average hitter who puts up 20 HR and 170 R+RBI year in and year out. Only the age and oblique scared me off a bit.

Thanks, we were surprised to see him on the board at this point + with our offense being as young as it is, taking a gamble on a somewhat old mans health seemed pretty reasonable

Do you think he'll get traded or you just want a super elite holds guy?

Doesn't really matter because he's a top 5 RP either way.

Yeah. A lock for 25+ holds with elite ratios isn't much less valuable than a closer.

It does matter to the extent that saves are a category and closers get a lot more saves than setup guys get holds. I agree with you he's extremely dominant, but unfortunately his role will impact his value. I think it's kinda bushleague for the Yankees to come right out and say Chapman will be the closer after the season that Miller just had (not to mention Betances).

Holds are relatively flat. There are a lot of guys that get 15-25 holds, but very few closers that will get 35+ saves, which Miller would anywhere else. Best case scenario he gets traded to the NL.

It's easy to find guys who give you 10-20 holds, but only 11 guys had more than 25, and three guys more than 30 last year. 20 guys had 30+ saves. I think Andrew Miller in his current role gets to the 30-hold range, which is incredibly valuable.

Plus age isn't thaaat bad. He's only a year older then Dr. Boring Badleg who GD took the spot before.

I believe he'll still get a save here or there. A trade would be nice but I'm more concerned about him helping to prop up my ratios and ks. Any holds or saves he can throw my way are a bonus.

30+ holds? He will share the setup role with Betances though.
