Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 We select Brandon Belt, can someone pm next in line? I'm on the road right now I don't know who's picking for GD at this point, I think either Kingkat or BTS.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I can say this now, but he's preferable to Stroman due to contextual factors. I probably would have taken Stroman cuz I'm a homer tho. He was the pitcher I was strongly debating instead of Stroman, and the one I almost selected my last pick rather than a bat. In the end, I like Stroman's stuff a little better which is why I took Stroman. As for taking the bat, I didn't like the idea of only having 2 bats heading into rounds 6 and 7 where things would really start thinning out. I also have Manaea on the farm (and Appel, although I know a lot don't like him), and both should be up sooner rather than later. I just couldn't justify taking that 3rd starting pitcher there. I hope I don't regret it.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Your other issues don't hold any water for me. He's had 14 wins each of the last two years on a mediocre team, doesn't seem to be a problem. His K and K/BB are both above average with room for growth and he's a great GB pitcher with two plus pitches. Lol k
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Mark Appel is going to surprise a lot of people. Maybe he'll have a mid 2 ERA with a .230 BABIP and even Dinger will get on his bandwagon.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 So does Gray, who has one of the best curveballs in baseball. He struck out batters at 25% in his first year over 60+ IP. There is more K% in there than what he's shown the last two years, which is still pretty good. Stroman doesn't have an out pitch as good as Gray's hammer, though I love them both and I think they're pretty similar pitchers. Yeah Gray has some upside too but Stroman's K numbers are much superior. I'm not saying Gray is bad or anything but I just think Stroman is the much better fantasy pitcher.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Does anyone want to trade up for 94? Looking for a pick around 110 ish + another upgrade either on 134 or a later pick.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Gray has a higher career K rate Meant to say in the minors*.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 To all: i'm looking to trade down from either 107 or 125
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 GD never contacted me, sorry.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 GD never contacted me, sorry. I guess BTDumn is picking for him then.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Sorry. I meant I want to trade up from 107 or 125 To a pick now or soon. My bad
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I'm not saying Gray is bad or anything but I just think Stroman is the much better fantasy pitcher. Both pitchers are ridiculously similar, and I don't think you can go wrong with either. Gray's off-speed pitches are better, but his fastball results aren't great. In particular, he walks more than he K's with the fastball. Stroman's results (while fairly sss), are much more consistent across all the pitches except his changeup, which he doesn't use much. That gives him more ways to get guys out, and I would think should result in better performances in the long run.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 GD said one of the children is handling his stuff. King or org.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 GD is online so if he doesn't pick soon I'm going to re-circumcise him.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Sorry boys, I have his pick. GD takes Adrian Beltre.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Quintana > Stroman > Gray Nah, brah.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 K I feel a lot better about moving down because I was going to take Beltre. Connor OTC, 94 + 147 for 107 + 125
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I'm surprised people are so high on Beltre, given he's almost 37.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Quintana > Stroman > Gray I think I'd take Stro first. Both have similar K and walk numbers but Stroman has the much better defense behind him and Win totals.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I know projections say he's done but I'll go Carlos Gomez.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Quintana > Stroman > Gray You sure like dropping names.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I know projections say he's done but I'll go Carlos Gomez. Thanks a lot Boxy....
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 It's hard to say because Stroman doesn't really have much of a major league track record and I can't really ignore the fact that Quintana has been quite excellent for three straight seasons.
