Net steals makes more sense. There aren't really contextual factors that make getting caught stealing acceptable, but closers can enter a 1-run game with the bases loaded and nobody out and blow the save despite pitching excellently.

I have no horse in this but net saves suck. Penalizes all you middle relievers because their holds don't count against their blown saves.

You're actually hurting guys like Starlin Castro, who attempt a lot of steals but get busted a lot.

 

It's not a points scoring system, it's H2H by category, so the guys with a bigger distance between steal and net steals become even more valuable.
