G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 That isn't the question in the poll. Oops I feel like the smart kid who thought he aced the exam but then realizes he didn't read the question properly. LOL
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Full time at short with above average defense and below average bat even for the position. 1.0-1.5 WAR.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I didn't read the question either. I answered less than zero but I figure Goins would have to have about a 60 wRC to go below replacement if he was given a full-time SS role. Not discounting the possibility of him being that low but zero chance he'd keep the job at that point anyway. I'll change mine to 0.5 to 1.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Thing is if Goins was performing at a rate of less than a 1WAR SS fulltime he probably doesn't continue being a starter and wouldn't get a full season's worth of playing time.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 On. Name the price. I'll do 1.7WAR if that makes it more fair. That's averaged over 600PAs, and a minimum of 250. Okay? Yes, for 50.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Lol at people trashing Goins' playoff performance. The best of players have horrible playoff numbers ,not a player who fell into extended playing time due to an injury and faced a ton of top end LHP.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Over 600 PA, he does 1.5 WAR blindfolded. He'd most likely be around the 2.2 mark.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 lol so i go to click the poll results to see who voted <2.5 WAR. rofl.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Over 600 PA, he does 1.5 WAR blindfolded. He'd most likely be around the 2.2 mark. Lolz

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 To be fair, him being blindfolded probably wouldn't hurt him at the plate too much.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Gotta add that extra 0.2. Gives it more scientific analytical credence. The extra 0.2%

nextyear Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I predict that Kevin Pillar will have a fWAR of 5.0 in 2016 in CF (up from 4.3 in 2015), and that Tulowitzki will be the starting SS for the Blue Jays in 2016 (obviously). I think Ryan Goins will have a fWAR of 1.5 in 2016 with about 300 PA at SS and 2nd base as a Blue Jay, then get traded to San Diego in 2017 and be their starting SS for 5 years in complete but happy obscurity.

I just want to say that it is so cute how you base your posts around fWAR and wRC+ these days.

We all must strive to keep the 10 year veteran posters such as Boxcar happy. Perhaps we all should bow even as we post to the veterans on this forum : http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SmprtzkaQY8/TrZJmF6tC7I/AAAAAAAACOY/fIK-4JWM6J4/s1600/Angle-of-Japanese-bow.gif
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 That's right, if I sense that you're a fraction of a degree short of 45, there will be hell to pay
