If we survive Game three, who should start Game 4? Price of Dickey.

So far Dickey is slotted to pitch, but Gibbons says he is considering going with Price.

There are pros and cons of each.

Who do you think should start Game 4?

Price should be good to go. he just had 11 days off and he should be fine to go on 3 days rest. if we make it to game 5 Stroman has to be the guy for that. as others have said, you don't want to lose with your best guys on the bench.

Thanks for jinxing game 3

pitching really isn't the problem. it's the offense and defense that have screwed them so far. play good ball, put good swings on the ball, estrada doesn't s*** the bed and the jays should win tomorrow.

Really and what ace pitcher are you planning to throw in their should he struggle?

all of them if they have to.

They could put Dickey in, and then use Price Game 4 (if necessary) and Stroman Game 5 (if necessary)

Gotta go with Price. He'll give you a far better chance to win than Dickey on most nights. dickey can be long relief in case if someone falters. Especially if Estrada has the short leash that he should have.

Yea if Estrada struggles and its not a great ballpark for him to pitch in you throw out Dickey. Price and Stroman are locked in for games 4 and 5 if they exist and hopefully they do.

I think they should go with Price in game 4. Especially since Thole isn't available to catch Dickey and Martin usually looks bad catching Dickey.

It is a tough decision though, since Dickey has pitched well over his last 7 outings, with the opposition only scoring 14 runs in the 47-1/3 innings (2.66 ERA) that he pitched - http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=1245&position=P

In comparison, the opposition scored 13 earned runs in the final 7 regular season outings that David Price pitched in (44 innings) for a 2.66 ERA also - http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=3184&position=P. In the playoff game # 1, David Price gave up 5 earned runs in 7 innings - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2015_10_08_texmlb_tormlb_1#game=2015_10_08_texmlb_tormlb_1,game_state=Wrapup,game_tab=box (but 1 hit and 2 runs in the 3rd inning were a result of a Martin-called pick-off play that drew Goins out of position, no one is to blame but it resulted in 2 runs)

ERA, as we all know, is a team stat not just a pitcher stat, however when comparing pitchers on the same team with the same defense it seems legitimate to compare ERA.

there isn't an official game 4 yet. it is this same thought process behind why we haven't won a game yet in the series. certainty that we'll win.

This will be the biggest decision of Gibby's career to date

And if whoever he picks is sub par, he will be second guessed all off season

Pretty sure he's going to be second-guessed if the Jays do anything other than win the World Series.

I think his worst decision so far was to sit Price for 10 days prior to his start. I thought it was common knowledge that SP's do worse when they break out of their standard rhythm.

He could have given Price 2 or 3 innings in the final game or something. If Price had gotten injured though, then everyone really would have been screaming. There probably wasn't a right answer.

Price is the forced hand for Gibbons and AA heck even for " fans " but I would go with Dickey.

They expected to dominate the rangers the ideal situation from the start was Price, Dickey,Stroman and Estrada that is what I expected.

My view if Estrada has issues then have price ready but should if make it game 4 I personally want dickey but with martin catching it makes nervous I woucausld have Stroman ready. This setup causes conflict for the possibility of game 5 which is the least of worries right now

I think I would go with Dicky and give him 2 runs. Hope he goes 5. If we are up big let him go for as long as possible. If he puts two on in the third... Put price in the game.
