Lol, I read the Thanos post and not the one he was quoting.

My point still stands though. Stop quoting Keith Law. Don't even type his name out in parody. Please?

Yeah, I'd love to have less Law in my life, even if he's only quoted twice a month or so.

It is? Seems like a legit scouting report for both.

It does, that's what crazy about it haha.

It sounds like Yolbert Sanchez is going to sign with Baltimore.

Hope he enjoys feeling great for 2 days until Baltimore creates some ******** out of his physical and tries to bully him into accepting a lower price.

When you say towering you mean weighs as much as both of them combined right?

Towering in a horizontal manner?

Anyone else have a home to 1st speed of Vladdy Jr.? I've timed it according to the video here at about 19 seconds in, and he seems to run a ~4.05 home to 1st when he's hustling down the line. That doesn't seem right though, because according to Fangraphs own objective scale, that would give him a 80 run tool.

Looks like about 4 seconds to me as well. Is the video a little sped up maybe?

Or maybe they just edited out a second of running between the first scene where he hits the ball and the second where the camera switches to him running down the line?

Or maybe vladdy is just a burner.

It's from the point of contact to when he touches the base. You'll probably get 4.40 or higher for Vlad if you time it right. I bet you're just late hitting go. Use your phone stopwatch.

I'll bet its ANYTHING other than Vladdy being an 80 run tool. LOL

He's listed as a 45/40 run tool, not even close. :P

Yeah, it's an assumption due to him being a big boi. Certainly looks quicker than below average.

I don't recall, but do they account for smarts on the base paths in the run tool, 1st to 3rd etc...?

Edit: NVM... they do...

Baseball Tool #1 - SPEED

In my opinion, Speed is one of the more underrated skills to have in baseball. It's always the home runs and fancy web-gems that get all the glory, but when you've got a speedy runner on the base paths, they can affect the outcome of the game in 100 different ways.

Here are a few of the ways that a fast runner can change a game:

Stealing a base (or two)

Taking an extra base on a single to right field (when runner is on first)

Rattling the pitcher

Scoring from 1st on a double

Drawing pick off throws which can get away

Scoring on a passed ball

Staying out of double plays

The list goes on, but you get the point.

One important thing to mention here, is that, while we are referring to this tool as "speed", it also encompasses base running in general. There are plenty of guys that aren't breaking any records in the 40 yard dash, but still grade high in this tool based on their intelligence on the base paths.

Players such as Dustin Pedroia and Ryan Zimmerman are not very fast, but Pedroia has the uncanny ability to read the ball off the bat, take an extra base when he sees an opportunity, and steal the occasional base on lazy pitchers who have forgotten about him.

Zimmerman, although not very fast, ranks among the fastest players in the league for taking an extra base.

Fantrax Dynasty (remember this is fantasy not reality) prospect ranking. I don't know this guy but he is more bullish on Smith than even me.

NOTE: I did not include Yusei Kikuchi as he does not qualify as a prospect under MLB’s guidelines. I also did not include Kyler Murray due to the growing speculation that he chooses the NFL over MLB. If he were sticking with baseball, I’d have him around 150, for reference. As for Kikuchi, he’d be in the back-end of my top-100 if he was eligible.

Yup...

A players running speed is usually timed in two ways; 60 yard dash and from home to first. The average major league time is 6.9 for the 60 yard dash, from home to first 4.3 seconds for right handed hitters and 4.2 seconds for left handed hitters. The clock start on times from home to first on the crack of the bat to when the foot hits first base. A fast runner at the major league level can run home to first in 4.0 seconds or below. The ability to run, will force fielders to rush their throws and make more throwing errors. A team without speed will often have to hold their runners at third base thus scoring less runs.

236 on the list above, it was tongue in cheek, brosoff! ;)

Hahaha. My eyes kinda glaze over when it comes to prospect lists that long....

somebody has an aggregate top prospect list compiled on a Google Sheet somewhere don't they? Does anyone have the link handy?
