David Price is such a great teammate. Statcast on Ryan Goins' play as requested by David Price - http://m.mlb.com/news/article/150068508/statcast-examines-blue-jays-ryan-goins-play

It is tough to say if Ryan Goins can stick in the MLB for a few years, especially considering how Darwin Barney won a Gold Glove in 2012 but has spent all but 2 games in the minors this year. In any case, it is good to see Ryan Goins enjoying his playing time this year.

PS: How did Ryan Goins survive growing up in Texas - http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/16/us/texas-student-ahmed-muslim-clock-bomb/index.html

PPS: Ryan Goins has improved at the plate but he has been hitting too many ground balls to the 1st baseman (even when not trying to move a runner along). I wonder if Brook Jacoby can do something to correct that?

Have you ever been bitten by a Rattlesnake?

Never, close a few times while out in the desert. I was more aware of my surroundings to make sure no Cartels came and kidnapped me and my car to transport drugs, would happen all the time to people.

At this point (September 19, prior to today's game) he is wRC+ 96 since this thread was created on September 1st, 2015 - http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=9807&position=2B/SS&type=&gds=2015-09-01&gde=2015-09-18&season=

Just saying, it shows how important sample size is.

So in other words, he's dumn

So in other words, since my post about GDs post about Ryan Goins can stick, Goins has a 225 wRC+

We may be on to something here

Not the greatest game defensively for Goins today. One error and one play that normally he would have made that was called an infield hit.

I am not sure what was going on with the Blue Jays today, they made 3 errors and a couple of poor defensive plays that weren't called errors (a ball that bounced off Navarro that should have been an out on the 4th run, and a throw wide by Pennington that should have completed a double play). In reality it was like 5 or 6 errors.

I hope the Blue Jays will put today's game behind them by Monday's game with the Yankees. With Tulowitzki out, a player like Goins can't afford to lose confidence in his defensive abilities (such as what happened to Pompey early in the season).

Overall the last two days were very disappointing, but the Red Sox have plenty of talent on their team.

Once again this thread is relevant. With Darwin Barney on the roster and Devon Travis coming back, what happens if Goins gets off to a great start at the plate and shows his usual defensive ability at 2nd base, it will be interesting to see.

It appears that Goins has been working on his batting, and base running speed in the off-season. He has been in Florida, training, since early in January 2016.

Blue Jays’ Goins looking to reach new heights in 2016

.

.

Goins has been in Florida since shortly after the new year, working frequently with private hitting instructor Bobby Tewksbary, the same man Josh Donaldson and Chris Colabello credit with helping dramatically improve their swings. Goins hasn’t made any substantial mechanical changes to how he handles the bat, but he does feel like he has a better understanding of what his body’s doing in the batter’s box, and how to take a better path to the ball.

.

.

Goins simply has to get on base, something he was doing with much more regularity over the back half of 2015. He’d also like to steal bases when he does get there, and worked on improving his speed this offseason with Olympic sprint coaches and even Carlin Isles, the American rugby sevens player widely considered the fastest man in his sport. The Blue Jays may not give him the opportunity to do so, but he’d at least like to pose the threat.

Nice to see Goins continuing to try and improve his game. A great piece to have on this team, even though I'd like Travis back ASAP.
