With a bullpen that is severely lacking some MLB experience, the Yankees may have thrown the entire MLB a bone with their DFA of RP David Carpenter.

His peripheral AL stats have not been great, but his NL stats are pretty decent. This season hes battled inconsistency, but he's also been used sparingly. When he is used often, his numbers are generally pretty good.

He throws a heavy fastball (94-96mph) and couples it with an above average slider. With a pen in disarray, why not try something different and take a chance?

Seems like a decent gamble. He was very good the last two years.

Weird that his k-rate is so low but I guess that's just sample noise. He's missing bats as often as he always has.

He's making 1.3M, so that's not horrible but considering he's also a bit of a question mark, it's worth noting. I kind of think that our bullpen will come around as is though. I'm more concerned about the starting pitching (at least for this year).

Worth trying. Delabar and many others have gone through same sort of thing. Change of scenery might help. He was a stud.

Schultz, Tepera, Delabar, smh.

I could see Schultz or Tepera I guess. It'd be nice to see who those guys are at the MLB level first. More than a SSS.
