I would. 2 more cheap years at 8 and 9 million has his contract aligned with EE and JB. Makes too much sense (and cents)

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 why the hell would the Brewers do that?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I'd do Pompey for Gomez everyday of the week, but the Brewers would say no.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I didn't even read the article but lol at the blog. It's generally one of the better Jays blogs but this post was really amateurish.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I didn't even read the article but lol at the blog. Why? Kyle Matte writes quality stuff, he was a great poster on the old forum. Plus, Gomez can be a headache all he wants if he's gonna average nearly 5 WAR.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 nonono We can score 6+ runs without Reyes or Bautista. We need pitching. At least our starting is starting to improve slightly, our BP is brutal though
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I dont care if Gomez is a head case Ill take his production any day.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Because our outfield is looking so shiny right now. Shinier than our pitchers
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Just Pompey and Castro for Gomez +? I don't see the Brewers considering that at all.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 This is barely worth thinking about, but having Gomez sure would make for a nice lineup. CF- Gomez 3B- Donaldson RF- Bautista DH- Encarnacion SS- Reyes C- Martin 2B- Travis 1B- Collabello? LF- Pillar/Saunders exact order notwithstanding, that looks good.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Shinier than our pitchers You get that our OF currently consists of Kevin Pillar, Chris Colabello, Ezequiel Carrera and the occasional Danny Valencia start, right? If another team offered you all of those guys for Drew Hutchison alone, would you do it?

There's no pitcher coming back any time soon to save us this season. What I'm saying is if Pompey has enough value to be traded for Gomez, then we should trade Pompey instead for a starting pitcher instead. I don't care if we'd have the best 1-6 in recent baseball history, we need pitching because half our rotation and our bullpen love to give up tons of runs
xposbrad Verified Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 He's 29, a FA in '17. I don't see the point since the Jays aren't competing this year without pitching. This team needs to target players with more team control.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Likely would require Norris + Pompey.

However, it's still not the best thinking that we need a pitcher more than we need a 5 WAR CF, you take your wins any way that you can. Gomez is probably at worst a 2-3 win improvement over our next best option at CF. Saunders gets injured a lot, we have to face that, he clearly wasn't 100% in his time with the big league club. A wise man once said: "a win is a win is a win".
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Think my Trade of Estrada and Boyd for Kazmir might even have better legs then this idea! heck pay estarda's salary even if they are willing to give us some international dollars in exchange too!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 If Gomez cost Pompey + Castro I make that trade everyday a week. Are people forgetting just how good Gomez was the last 2 years? Thats a couplr wins added this year and next year at least. I feel the Brewers could get a better package though. Gomez or someone else, the Jays need to acquire another OF for this year. And hopefully soon.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 There are people on this forum that wouldn't trade Pompey and Catsro for Carlos Gomez? SMH.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Can we plx get fatcow in the LOD? Pls no, he would trade a top 30 bat for Brandon Crawford in a heartbeat.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Likely would require Norris + Pompey. Yeah, you MIGHT be able to get away with Osuna+Pompey+something, but realistically that's it. I'd certainly think about it if it was Osuna.

Gomez is good and on a great contract.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Whatever we would expect for Edwin or Bautista, the Brewers can expect that for Gomez.

I think Edwin and bautista would have more value. Maybe not Bautista if he can't play RF but those guys seem to have more value because of how much power and HR they have hit. Not saying its right but thats just the way I see their value around the league.
