Exactly what Lawrie and Dejesus were trying to do, it's just fun to point out to the Lawrie haters that it wasn't a dirty play and they shouldn't let their bias get in the way, but that's not gonna work.

There was going to be no double play on the Lawrie play. He actually beat the throw, his dangerous slide actually caused him to be out when he came off the bag.

There isn't a single player with similar speed to Lawrie that wouldn't have slid in that situation. It was the momentum he had that caused his spike to go up.

I just rewatched the Dejesus slide and it may have been worse because Travis actually stepped away from the bag and Dejesus slid toward him.

Anyway...

13 straight games for Wood where he's given up 3 runs or less. 12 quality starts. This should be interesting, considering I think the Jays have the best vs. LHP lineup in baseball.

slide to the bag not the player. He's safe if he does.

I didn't see that play. Was it breaking up a double play?

My point is that Lawrie never understands situations. I don't think he's trying to be dirty but there is zero need to break up a double play when there is zero chance there will be a double play.

Which Lawrie did and Dejesus did not.

Anyway, it's part of the game, it just so happens that Lawrie is disliked while no one cares about Dejesus
