o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I've had MLB.tv for more than a decade and they have been really good about keeping the price down. It's been 129 dollars for repeat customers for years. I was really surprised when I got billed almost 170 dollars this year. I sent off an email to ask if was MLB.tv or my bank that has screwed things up. MLB.tv actually CALLED me to explain that EU has imposed a VAT tax on subscriptions from the USA and that is why it was more money, but since MLB'tv had not informed it's customers, they were going to refund the difference. that is going to cost them a s*** load of money and time. Good on them to do the right thing. first time they've done anything like this. cool.....
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 In the future you should just get a VPN and change your IP address and you should be able to get the cheaper price.

MLB can just open an office in London and it will all be solved. all they need is a PO box and register the daughter company.

It's crazy how many people work for organizations yet nobody thinks about letting customers know of a 30% increase. This doesn't just go for the MLB, happens very often.

This doesn't just go for the MLB, happens very often. they didn't increase it. it's a tax that was put on it since the beginning of the year. They should have informed people who sign up from Europe, but at least they are just making it right without a fight. There are thousands of customers here and it's going to cost them a pretty penny. not sure what I'm going to do next year. 170 is a little steep, but I'll probably just pay. I like the HD and that the games are always on. get it straight through my smart TV if I am home and can watch on my phone if I'm out.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 What a nice gesture by MLB. I'll have to pay close to $170 this year with the exchange rate. BP's discount will help though.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 wat I paid 130 flat Did you buy the standard MLB.TV? I buy premium, which is $129.99 in American dollars.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 it's supposed to be 129 USD if you are renewing a subscription.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Just noticed the charge on my visa today. It would be nice if MLB at least sent me an invoice to let me know the annual charge has been made.

I'm sure they were aware.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 it will cost MLB.tv 30 dollars for every EU customer.

The only reason I knew was because Paypal sent me an E-Mail informing me that MLB.tv had withdrawn money from my bank account.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 So no more Jays games being blackout for all Canadians?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 That's nice that they are refunding the difference, as a poster said earlier, just change your IP address, to 'Mericuh!

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 $140 this year for basic because of the s***** exchange rate. s*****, but there's no way I can do without it.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Does the automatic renewal automatically click in if you dont disable it? I just noticed I was billed for it last week as well. I was going to renew it anyway but if not I would have been pretty bad. This exchange rate is ********

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 It's very easy to cancel though and when you sign up it's clear that there is automatic renewal.
S33n Verified Member Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 for paying... it DOESN'T matter what your IP address is... it's your billing address that makes the difference. Yesss, but if you pay with PayPal can they divulge your personal information to a third party?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 you have to have your country of origin registered to paypal to connect it too your account? not sure this gets around the tax, but I'll look into it before next year
