we are talking about guys who put bubble gum on each others heads and set show laces on fire just to laugh at each other, not a group of accountants who are more likely to go postal at work than laugh at anything.

That's an overgeneralization though. Do you think RA Dickey is going to be like " Haha you better watch your step Izzy". Just because some MLB players might be jerks doesn't mean the majority are. They are grown men, many with wife and kids. We're not talking about college jocks. I'm sure some might poke fun of Izzy this year and many won't. Most of these guys have made so many sacrifices to make it where they are that you would hope they would feel bad when someone loses a season and potential future pay over a freak accident. Saying that i would fully expect someone like Brett Lawrie to be cracking jokes....not so much other guys. It just depends on the dude i guess and their relationship with Izzy.

please point out where I said ALL of them? once again, Izturis had a hard time not laughing when he explained how he hurt himself last year. Amazing that the guy who got hurt can see the humor in it and people here cant.

 

time for people to invest in a sense of humor and a downgrade for their exhaustive sense of propriety. (get the proverbial stick out of the ass)

This is their profession and livelihood so it's not really something to make fun of but at the same time their are a million different personalities who play ball. So who the f*** knows.

 

L54 mentionned that he had experience in College ball and has hung around (presumably) the low levels of pro ball. I can see how this could be much harder to laugh at in a world where there are no guaranteed contracts and the opportunity cost of a lost season could be huge.

Yeah he's fine. He's probably on his last contract regardless and he's actually very fortunate to find himself in a position where his only new competition for the 2B job is a second tier prospect who hasn't played above AA. I don't think anyone would have necessarily predicted that his prospects would be as good as they are a year down the road. Certainly should be pretty easy to laugh at it now.
