BTS Community Moderator Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 he has slowed up, have you not been watching him? He has, but not to the point where he's a bad player or not worth his contract. If the bat falls below average, or the defense continues to slide, the contract becomes an albatross.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 http://instagram.com/p/y3LfY1zVbb/ I think Reyes is getting his own shoe. Posted it one minute ago, already has 400 likes lol.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Also, this is a thing that happened. http://i.gyazo.com/76c3eed96d5e144842c36f407a710d5f.png

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Those are pretty nice, honestly. Yeah, surprisingly. Considering Reyes' sense of fashion, you'd think if he ever got a shoe deal, it'd be orange or pink or some rainbow colored monstrosity or something. I like these.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Should be a reliever or two in this poll, the way things stand
SAAviour Verified Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I'm guessing when Martin is hitting .240 June 1st that 90% of the fan base will blame him and his contract for bringing the jays down...meanwhile 90% of us on this board will be smashing our heads in the wall listening to people bitch about Martins average and having no idea how good his defense is.

Let's hope not Career .259 /.354/.399 with 10-20 HR power and with defense that good is fantastic. Hopefully Buck and Pat keep pointing out how good his defense is over and over and over again. Oh wait, that will get annoying won't it...

Hopefully Buck and Pat keep pointing out how good his defense is over and over and over again. Oh wait, that will get annoying won't it... I could live with that actually especially if they use some accurate measures for once instead of just pulling stuff out of their ass. Sadly, what I think will actually happen is that Buck and Pat will was poetic about his leadership for entire games. (To be clear, it's not that I don't believe in the leadership qualities of Martin and others but I think it's a lazy trope for a broadcaster to latch on to and a terrible angle for "analysis". It's mostly just an excuse to spew clichés.).

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 If Reyes was playing second base people would hate him less. I actually like Reyes. I mean his lack of range can be frustrating but he provides a lot of good things. I agree. The hate will escalate with every blunder he makes, especially in the late crucial times. His ego will not easily allow Gibby to replace him at SS late in a game while protecting a small lead, this will also add to the hate. Reyes moving to 2B will make the Jays a better team and would probably land Reyes another 2-3 year deal somewhere after his contract expires.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Not as long as Gruber is pimping every groundball single he hits in the GDTs Ok..
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I think this could very well be the of the AA honeymoon for a lot of casual fans if things go poorly. People were willing to forgive 2013 because AA brought in a lot of name players and it "just didn't work out" but they won't as be forgiving this time around. If the team doesn't win, they'll say it's because AA didn't bring back Melky Cabrera or Casey Janssen and traded away guys like Adam Lind, Brett Lawrie and J.A. Happ.
