BTS Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Has a baseball executive ever been held to a contract he wanted out of?
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I'm sure if he wanted out of it that bad he could make it happen.
subatomic Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 This is the hilarious part that you thickheaded f***tards don't get. Perfect example. Felix Hernandez. Most dominant pitcher in the AL, he was worth anywhere between 36 and 50 million dollars last year. Yet the compensation he received was 22M. Nearly/less than half of what he was worth. Even if he was worth 45M, anyone who paid him 45M would be regarded as a f***ing idiot, because of what they paid relative to his market value. It doesn't matter how much value an apple has in comparison to an orange, all that matters is how that apple is priced relative to how every other apple is priced. Well if you can get a GM/CEO to take you to the playoffs for less than what it would take to get DD than go get him. Just because something is undervalued by others does not mean DD is not worth what the Orioles want. The Orioles realize his value to them. And it is more than what they are asking for. They are only even contemplating giving him up because he has asked to leave. He would improve the Blue Jays and they are a direct competitor to the Orioles. So not only him leaving would make the Orioles worse he would make the Jays better.
subatomic Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Or to go further and put in the simplest possible terms, since I understand that you have the intellect of a jackass, if you believe Duquette is worth more than Felix Hernandez, who himself was essentially underpaid at 22M last year, then despite the fact that no GM makes even half as much, you firmly believe that your Orioles should most definitely be paying Duquette above 22M a year, correct? And if your club won't simply toss the precedence of GM salaries in the current market and compensate him for what he's truly worth, why should the Jays themselves ignore that precedence and give you idiots compensation equivalent to what you think he's worth? Because you are sick of being a loser. And if you don't give us what we think he is worth you don't get him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Angelos' pettiness likely does extend far enough to try this. I really don't think it's a good thing though. He has a front office to worry about. If the working relationship has been damaged, and I imagine it has, everyone needs to move on. BTS, this guy's a foogazy, on the other site he said guys like King Felix, etc, etc aren't worth DD, furthermore he doesn't think a CEO is a promotion from GM, believes this to be right? No ********, he's Atomic over there, people agree with him, now that part blows me away.
subatomic Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I'm sure if he wanted out of it that bad he could make it happen. He cant he signed a contract. Angelos has made his money taking people to court. He is currently fighting major league baseball in court. I don't think he is one you want to test in a legal battle.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I'm sure if he wanted out of it that bad he could make it happen. These things always get worked out. Mike Scioscia is under contract for like 6 years, but if decided he wanted to leave to join the A's front office, Angels management would ask for big compensation, and in the end he'd go for like Sam Fuld or something.
subatomic Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 BTS, this guy's a foogazy, on the other site he said guys like King Felix, etc, etc aren't worth DD, furthermore he doesn't think a CEO is a promotion from GM, believes this to be right? You guys are so simple minded you don't think a GM has more influence on a teams place in the standings than a single player. And it isn't a promotion.

Yeah but if it gets to the point that keeping Duquette around hurts the team more than letting him go, Angelos will have to release him from the contract or something. He can't just drag Duquette kicking and screaming through the next 4 years.

That's something that doesn't seem to be registering in the s***-filled brains of you and your counterparts. The Orioles overplayed their hand, the Jays folded, and for whatever reason, the moron Orioles spectators watching at home are under the belief that the Jays are still at the table and begging to be played. In actuality, you've gotten married to the idea of trading Duquette for far more than you should have gotten for him, you're bothered that he doesn't want to be there, and you're now in denial that it's over and that it didn't play out the way you thought it would have. Meanwhile, all of this is made worse by the fact that every single Jays fan on this board is completely content with the idea that the Jays have walked away. That's probably why you're sitting here at 1 AM trying to get a rise out of people who don't care. Compared to the kind of people we've had walk through here, you're a replacement level troll at best.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I'm legit surprised that Orioles fans are applauding as Peter Angelos further tarnishes his already s***** reputation. At least Jays fans have admitted that Ed Rogers acting like a jackass has in no way been a good thing.
43211234 Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I don't want to re-kindle the somewhat petty blue jays/orioles stuff going on in this thread but orioleshangout truly is from another world. Unanimous agreement on the man in white, Bautista PEDs, and they all strangely seem to think that the Blue Jays had offered Hoffman and the Orioles turned it down.

I would expect that no one before has ever had any reason to troll you. Why would you troll a team that never wins? I mean was there even an Internet in 1993? The only reason I knew about this board was because you guys tried to troll our board.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Because you are sick of being a loser. And if you don't give us what we think he is worth you don't get him. And nobody here cares http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-laughing002.gif Why is that so hard for you to accept? We are happy that we don't get him. We don't want him. Please keep him. Enjoy him. Hold his hand and read him a bed time story. Violate his restraining order. Be merry.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 He would just make DD a figurehead. And give the GM responsibility to someone else. So then you're just giving Duquette a shitload of money for doing nothing for 4 years? Just to keep him from going to the Jays? That doesn't really make fiscal sense. IMO the easiest option for Angelos at this point is to just let him go if he wants to go.

At least Jays fans have admitted that Ed Rogers acting like a jackass has in no way been a good thing. Peter Angelos is very charitable man. He gave thousands of tickets out for free to the playoffs. Donates millions to Baltimore institutions and helps out the poor. I think he values himself more as a person than what someone who is infatuated with baseball in Toronto thinks about him.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I miss Moogy. No you don't, you really don't.

The money that DD makes is so trivial compared to the total outlays in payroll it would be worth it to Angelos. He is somebody you don't cross and he holds grudges.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 lol why? Because getting trolled by newbs from Baltimore just doesn't do it for me. Plus, Moogs would masterfully troll us while obliterating this subatomic character at the same time.

subatomic Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Oh well I am out of here. We both should be happy. You didn't have to give up your beloved prospect in Hoffman and we didn't have to give up DD. Works out for both sides.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 So there are Peter Angelos fanboys. Not sure why I'm surprised, but I am.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Admitting that he's walking away probably makes that guy the worst troll of all time. Oh well, now that the one thing that unified all of us is gone, it's probably time for us to go back to hating each other.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 So there are Peter Angelos fanboys. Not sure why I'm surprised, but I am. The guy that runs and rapes the minions over there is one ignorant f***. He banned thehurl, lol. There's a couple guys that see it in our light as a promotion why hang on etc, but that's it.
