GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 It's not only about addressing holes, improving the roster in any way possible should be the objective and AA has accomplished that thus far. Sure we have holes, but AA has done a fine job this winter and there is no reason to think he is anywhere near done. Exactly.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Isn't this the guy that broke a bunch of signings earlier in the offseason? do not use that source anymore someone on baseball reddit figured it out - this guy was filtering through twitter and 'stealing' other people's sources Details here

xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Even if this is not even real, the Yanks will get Scherzer. They aren't sitting on the sidelines, they target the best of the best and sign them. I think the bidding will get to be pretty high on Lester between the Cubs and Red Sox though.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I agree, we were the 5th worst team in the Majors when it comes to pitching. We NEED Shields imo Whoops...how does your foot, taste?
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 As a Jays fan I love it. Don't be naive. Facing Scherzer more is not actually a good thing.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Whoops...how does your foot, taste? Hey, I was schooled by JFaS but lets be honest who doesn't Besides, I still think we need Shields. Imagine having him in our rotation

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Hutch has a better season next year. True but I'd still take him to stabilize the rotation, if we manage not to overpay of course. But having a rotation of Shields Dickey Buehrle Stroman Hutch Allows us to have more depth and quality in our rotation. We'd stash Happ (if we don't trade him) and Estrada in the pen while Sanchez hangs about in AAA
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 BRANDON McCARTHY/LOWRIE>>>>Shields... If we can get Lowrie I will shut up and not ask for anything anymore lol
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 BRANDON McCARTHY/LOWRIE>>>>Shields... Even just McCarthy and the draft pick is better than Shields. One of the reasons Shields has value is because of his durability but with Dickey and Buehrle being good for 400 innings I think you can have a pitcher that has a bit more risk and higher reward. I don't even think we need another SP tbh. 2B, LF and the bullpen are all much bigger needs than a starter.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 BRANDON McCARTHY/LOWRIE>>>>Shields... Lowrie would be a great get for 2B. He's got some upside and can handle SS if Reyes goes down. It would be nice to have some real competition for D. Travis.

Much better spending money elsewhere.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 So is this deal happening? Haven't heard anything from any legit sources about it?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I want both, platoon Dirks/Pillar. That would be super sweet
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 That would be super sweet Are you actually back full time now?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I don't like this. Scherzer doesn't seem like a guy who's going to pitch well when he loses his velo. Got to say this will entertain me when all these moves are being made by the Yankees, Jays and Red Sox...then we see the Rays and O's challenging for the division title (okay the O's contending again will not entertain me one bit). Not sure if you are off the Ray Train now and back on the Souvlaki Food Truck in Toronto (f*** you Boxy we didn't want you anyway)
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Are you actually back full time now? don't you think he should have to prove himself again? He wanted meaningful games in September. He left in August and then comes back with the Martin signing. Someone make a poll to see what FatCow has to do to get back into the boards good graces

Someone make a poll to see what FatCow has to do to get back into the boards good graces I left because Orientation week starting at my school killed me, I was commuting from Toronto to Guelph at the time by TTC and Go Transit (3 hours one way!), and that was about the same time I started to move as well (my family were looking for an excuse to move to Mitlon) so I would go to Guelph for the entire day and come back at night to pack and stuff it just became so tiring lol Nah just came back to catch the Hype Train. He's the biggest bandwagon poster here That's not true!!

Any time you see someone wearing a Blue Jays hat it could be me lol My marks are awesome but commuting is a bitch lol. Right now I'm studying for my ECON exam actually! We should meet up sometime or something, but I probably won't be on campus until second semester starts (apart from doing my exams of course lol)

Yet I still find time to post...all on a message board for a team that I don't cheer for. Your next excuse please! Welcome back though
