Moogy there is something f***ing wrong with you. You need a psychiatrist or something. You supposedly have this family with young children and I presume the responsibilities that come with that like having a job and keeping your home from falling apart. Yet you choose to spend hours a day on this site arguing nonsense and depriving your kids of your time. s*** that doesn't even matter on a board with other people who share a common interest of leisure (fan of a sports team). Not even debating something worthwhile like politics or science or something. Although I have this feeling you spend even more time arguing s*** like that on various other forums.

Who cares what some random guy's job is or how he does it. Do you even have a clue what a correctional officer's job entails or what is considered a "good job"? I don't either but from years of watching Oz and Orange Is The New Black I'll take a guess. Yelling at criminals to behave, staring at a lot of hairy bare *******s for drugs and occasionally depriving a pedophile's basic human rights for kicks. There's nothing out of that list that implies one has to go above and beyond the call of duty. Just avoid getting AIDS from too close contact with the junkies and make sure any prospective escapees are shot down before they get to the public roads.

I'm confused who moogy believes I should do the best job for?

If I listen to what management says, their main priority stressed is "Care". So if I do a phenomenal job "caring" for the inmates then the public hates me aside from their scumbag families. And if I do the best job I can for the public, then I'd technically be depriving the inmates of what they're entitled to. So I just rest in the middle.

Stop making excuses and rationalizing why you aren't doing your best. That's how you ended up in this mess in the first place.

No mess at all. I intentionally do what I do.

Dare to dream.

12 years without any serious issues that were initiated by me.

You just got done saying you don't want to be better because you don't want to help out inmates, you don't want to help out managers, and you don't want to end up doing work for others (your peers).

I have no idea where I got the idea that you didn't want to help people out in your work.

You must be thinking of someone else, because it wasn't me.

If you play fast and loose with the term ...

Pardon?

For you.

You're always saying you don't give a s*** about other people, and now you're allegedly worried that the "public" will somehow find out you're doing your job well and be pissed about it, so you don't.

You're just contradicting yourself in your effort to rationalize being a slug.

The public doesn't give a s*** about the people in jail, inmates or Correctional Officers. And Managers & Suits are people who've either bag-licked themselves to where they are, or they've screwed up royally as a Correctional Officer, grieved their firing, got their job back and promoted to Manager, hidden from the front lines in a less hands-on role where they don't have the chance to f*** up more.

It's a pretty fascinating environment when the politics are full-steam ahead. Sadly you have no clue how the system works.

.........in your effort to rationalize being a slug.

Just trying to fit in.

May as well call me the Goldilocks of Corrections. Not trying to be a Golden Boy, no point, no incentive. And not be the biggest fall-down, which isn't too hard. I couldn't look at myself in the mirror trying to milk an accommodation or being off on Long Term Disability. I have an image to maintain.

But I'm quite familiar with the old tired tale of the uneducated blue collar lower level employee, who is always complaining about the higher ups, and the system, and pointing the finger at everyone else.

It's hilarious. You shouldn't care at all how much or hard people work.

And those handful of links I provided show a common theme that yes the higher-ups in Corrections are f***-ups. And those printed words and interviews coming from voices higher up than mine on the Union side. Union Execs., Union Presidents, Health & Safety Reps frontline staff at different locations. Sorry man, Management and the Government isn't gonna hold me accountable for an inmate death if they're not giving me the tools and then try to lay blame because some junkie doesn't know what point he needed to take and not OD.

It's a universal tale, and one not needing to understand the specifics of the situation to understand in order to understand the genesis of the view (and it's internal, in the failings of the storyteller).

If it's an Old tired tale, sounds like it's a very common long running theme for decades with thousands if not millions of people saying the same thing.

Unfortunately it's true.

Really I just want my money I'm entitled to and to be going home at the end of the day. Everything else that happens in between, I don't really care. I really don't care if inmates die, bang each other out, rape younger docile newbs, because it's gonna happen. I don't care if inmates are doing drugs while in custody, because its still gonna happen. I take specific directions from my Superiors with a grain of salt. Just get me through the day.

Again, for someone who claims he doesn't give a flying fig about other people, you suddenly care a lot about what other people think when it comes to making excuses for yourself.

You're missing the point. I don't care what happens to others. But I care deeply of what they think of me.

You have so many pathological issues, that no one should be taking advice on what to do, or not to do ... or what to care about, or what not to care about ... from you. It's pretty scary, actually.

I care about the world, and the people in it. I want it to be a better place. I want people to strive to achieve. If not for themselves (which they should), then for the benefit of others around them ... for particular people they care about and would be affected, and for the general well being of society.

Look at your behaviour on here towards.....um everyone and tell me your mouth doesn't taste like a big ol' shitburger after "I try to make everyone better" garbage.

Doing what you need to do to get by, and collect the money you feel you're entitled to, is sad.

That's your opinion. And you and I have no connection on my productivity so I'm not sure why you should care.

Uh, there are problems in every organization ... that doesn't mean it's pervasive, or that you should just give up.

Where have I said I've given up? I said "I do what I have to do", two completely different things.

You were just cheering on Bautista for squawking about his employer. Then you said the media doesn't care about what goes on in there ... except you just came up with media covering the issues.

Because it takes riotous behaviour where inmates die or staff are severely injured to draw media attention. Again, you have zero insight into the Correctional environment so please shut the f*** up about it.

But is it the management ... or guys like you? You provided a link to an issue which you claim shows management is inept ... they were smuggling drugs in, and an inmate died ... yet, below, you say you don't care if that happens (meaning you don't do anything proactive to stop it).

You obviously listened to the interview and heard we do strip searches. But you should listen a little closer where the Union President said we have limits to how far we can go. The Ombudsman instructed all Correctional Officers to be, "hands off". So when this Gov't goof directs me to not touch an inmate, I do so (less work). And instead of taking a risk in losing my job, "I don't touch" them. If the inmate has packed his ass with 5 or 6 kinder eggs, and what I see on the outside is their pink rosebud, that's as far as it goes. I'm not fist deep trying to prevent some junkie from trying to smuggle heroin, crack or weed in. And if it gets to units, I let the guys enjoy their stash (hands off). The Ombudsman and his cronies wanna put limitations on Correctional Officers. Fine I'm hands off and let the body count rise from OD.

That paints a picture that it's very much your ("your" being used as the generic for people in your position) fault/responsibility, as well. Sure, policies can effect things ... but typically that's just an excuse for lack of performance. People are always looking to blame-place away from themselves.

And it works for me.

But it all begs the question ... why would you support Bautista here? Why not tell him to do the base minimum to collect his pay, and to not care about what others do (and therefore, not come out with complaints about it)? You're being contradictory.

Because he entertains me. And me being super productive and always busy opposed to doing what I'm asked doesn't help anyone worth helping. I guess it's greed I want what I want for what I want to do and I care very little about helping or bettering others.....sound about right?

There's incompetence. There's corruption. But, as common, or more common, is the fact that people don't take personal responsibility for their own actions. "I don't try harder because blah, blah, blah." "Everyone above me is stupid/corrupt." It's mental self-preservation for someone who isn't an achiever.

There's no room for advancement, so why be an achiever? Corrections is rocketing towards a Social Worker/Medical environment. And I have zero interest in getting degrees in either field to advance.

Sad. And you're entitled to nothing. You have to earn it.

Management's go to line "It's management's right to manage." Meaning....do as your told. Which I do. Unfortunately it is their right to manage. So when I'm done my tasks, manage me.

You've bragged about calling "friends" retards, and not caring ... you've bragged about making potentially criminal sexual comments in front of what appeared to be a minor daughter, about a father's sex life. And you've basically said you can't stand to be around people and just want to be alone. Yet, these hurtful things you're saying ... and things that cause distress or trouble, certainly change the perception of you in their eyes. And these are "friends." And yet, you don't care that they will look at you negatively for being inhuman.

I don't have any close friends that come on this forum.

I suspect it's because I put "in my mom's basement" in the address line of my resume, but I can't be sure.

At least you have plenty of alone time to figure it all out.
