RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Live for today I guess.. the repercussions for the O's will hit next season, when they're scrambling to find a SS, RF and a DH on the free agent market when their big names get large offers from teams like the Yankees, Cubs, Dodgers, Angels, etc. Heck, on Baseball Central, they expect Hardy to sign with the Yankees, which wouldn't surprise me, due to their huge hole at SS after Jeter's retirement. And don't expect the O's to find help on the farm.. Norfolk was terrible this year, and Bowie was mediocre, with nothing on the farm that will help replace their upcoming free agents. Basically, the O's are going to have to spend heavily, or risk spiraling back to mediocrity, similar to Boston this season. They are Still in a better position then the jays
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 They are Still in a better position then the jays For this season, yes, for 2015 and beyond, no. The O's farm is near the bottom of the league, only boosted by Dylan Bundy and Hunter Harvey (and maybe Christian Walker). Plus, Peter Angelos is not known for being a major spender.
shortstop Verified Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 i'd take my chances with Showalter/Duquette getting whatever team they have in 1-3 years to the playoffs before AA
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
